your first musical memory
What is the first couple of songs you remember hearing and liking as a very young child?
Reet petite - Jackie Wilson Pretenders - Don't get me wrong Berlin - Take my breath away were mine. Also my mum had LP's i listened to. She had "whats the colour of money" and "the world is just a great big onion" |

Lots of Bowie, Dad used to play a lot of it. I am a huge fan now.
![]() Also remember my Dad playing Mike and the Mechanics- Looking Back Over My Shoulder, in the car all the time. I loved it as a child, and still do now. |

One of my first memories of music is the beginning of Never Forget - Take That. I was probably a little bit young to be interested in them back then, but I remember that song.
Also getting the Spice Girls' first album and Robson & Jerome's album for Christmas. |

Mine were always in the car with my mum....
'There must be an angel' by Eurythmics and 'Emotions' by Mariah Carey are the two that stand out for me. |

As far as 'pop' music is concerned, my earliest memory is of finding a couple of Beatles records in a box (the red and blue albums) and listening to A Hard Days Night. Not a bad way to start!

My parents didnt do pop music ( it was a classical house), and indeed I didnt discover such a thing even existed until i was in primary seven, off school ill with chicken pox and a transistor radio for company...
however, i do rememebr going round to a friends house when I was about seven or so, and her mum continually singing a song, which has stuck with me ever since - " Helter skelter, maybe I can help and dance the night away..." Ive just googled it and it was a Lynsey de Paul B side. hah! after all those years, and now I know what it was!
