What is the first couple of songs you remember hearing and liking as a very young child?

Reet petite - Jackie Wilson
Pretenders - Don't get me wrong
Berlin - Take my breath away

were mine.

Also my mum had LP's i listened to. She had "whats the colour of money" and "the world is just a great big onion"

Lots of Bowie, Dad used to play a lot of it. I am a huge fan now.

Also remember my Dad playing Mike and the Mechanics- Looking Back Over My Shoulder, in the car all the time. I loved it as a child, and still do now.

One of my first memories of music is the beginning of Never Forget - Take That. I was probably a little bit young to be interested in them back then, but I remember that song.

Also getting the Spice Girls' first album and Robson & Jerome's album for Christmas.

Mine were always in the car with my mum....

'There must be an angel' by Eurythmics and 'Emotions' by Mariah Carey are the two that stand out for me.

As far as 'pop' music is concerned, my earliest memory is of finding a couple of Beatles records in a box (the red and blue albums) and listening to A Hard Days Night. Not a bad way to start!

Dancing about the living room in my nightie to Sparks - "This town ain't big enough for the both of us" - they were on Top of The Pops. I would have been 3 or 4 and prob not going to bed until TOTP was finished!

My parents didnt do pop music ( it was a classical house), and indeed I didnt discover such a thing even existed until i was in primary seven, off school ill with chicken pox and a transistor radio for company...

however, i do rememebr going round to a friends house when I was about seven or so, and her mum continually singing a song, which has stuck with me ever since - " Helter skelter, maybe I can help and dance the night away..."

Ive just googled it and it was a Lynsey de Paul B side.

hah! after all those years, and now I know what it was!

First must be pachabel's canon because mum used to play that to me and my sister when we were babies/toddlers.

Then from what i remember being on in the car:

Genesis- selling england by the pound- i still listen to that!

Pink floyd- meddle, dark side of the moon- still listen to them too!

Laurie anderson- big science- that just scared me and yes i still listen to it occasionally
