Alex Burke's Album Sales
Any idea on how her album sales are doing?
I haven't see any figures of her albums sales as I am really curious to know how much she is selling compared to Leona's debut album. |

She's on course to sell something around 120k. Leona's Spirit sold 375,872 first week.

Yes, 120K, about the same as Rays Quinns first week sales of his debut album.
Album sales are generally down overall though. |

Yeh. If she were to have released it two years ago it would be more like 200k.

Nonsense to the above comment.
The sales aren't as high for one simple reason: she's not as big a draw as Leona. Leona's album was hyped massively, and it had a lead single that was a huge anthem for MANY weeks (many of those at number 1). . .Alexandra's lead single was a one week wonder and pathetically mediocre and forgetful compared to Bleeding Love (like most reality contestants) and thus her album sales aren't comparable to Leona's. |

^^Maybe maybe not but one things for certain they are in different album eras so what was sold 2 yrs before, isn't really all that relevent.
For some strange reason albums just don't seem to be selling. Nowadays selling over 100k, is good. I think the highest this year is 166k first week and that was by eminem. I do think LeLe will have be the 1st 200k seller tho. |

Maybe... if they do, excellent... especially Leona.
All I'm gonna say is that the pre order charts online and in general are pretty misleading, tbh. I'd say she's on course (alex) for 120-150k this week. Single 100-100k. |

I don't think Leona will shift as many in first week. A lot of people will wait until Christmas to get hers, myself included, so it may see a rise a few weeks after being first released as we head into December.
Alex's will be a slow burner I think.

I think Alex's will begin to drop down the charts quite quickly.
She's quite similar to Rhianna, and Rhiannas albums tend to kick around constantly, so she has the advantage for that particular market share. Leona has no real competition for her section of the market this quarter. |

Does anyone know what these sales compare to other of the more major acts in the X Factor? Those sales don't look too good to me considering the exposure and expectations. May be completely wrong though!

Illegal downloading basically. It is so easy to get the full album, most of the time before it comes out in the shops as well.

Who the hell would buy albums when they leak in FULL a week before they come out in the shops! This didnt happen 2yrs ago! These days folks can even download the artwork, you can make your own CD for like 40p, as opposed to buying it for a tenner! Most people don't even play CDs, everything is burned onto computers and mp3s...hence the market is falling! Tbh Alex's album will be a long runner, it was never gonna sell as much as Spirit, but I would be extremely surprised if it does not sell 1 million the album is packed full of hits!

Yeah but that's been happening for years regardless, Leona's leaked about 2 weeks before it came out in 2007, and a lot of Americans downloaded it too, yet it still went on to sell 6 million worldwide. If people are going to buy an album, they'll buy it regardless of whether it's leaked or not.

Illegal downloading has had a big effect on album sales, do you really think Spirit would have sold 6 million had it been released 10 years ago? no it would have sold a lot more. 6 million is nothing compared to what albums sold years ago.
