Don't know if you can get what the shrinks call transference when it comes to dance and it might be skewing my opinion of Ali's performances, but somehow I'm left with the same feeling whenever I watch her dance as I am whenever I hear her interviewed ... viz, mmmmeh.

Agreed, Buddy. She looked stunning in that bright orange.
The way the dress gathered more towards the back made it flare beautifully. Gorgeous.

Yes really loved it, she sparkled tonight. And the dress was absolutely perfect-much prettier than I'd thought it was going to be after the drawing on ITT. After last weeks tears and dejection it was lovely to see her spirits raised. Well done Ali !
I've given up trying to recognise the actual dresses from those drawings!

Apparently both of them had been under the weather this week, so they did really well. I didn't think the choreography was that simple tbh and I still think Brian has the knack of making a harder routine look easy.

Me too Buddy!

Natalie's dress, as much as I love her, didn't look half as good as I thought it was going to be from the picture on ITT.

Ali's best is better than Ricky Whittle's best.

I actually thought her and Brian might have had a bit of a falling out tonight, he looked awfully serious when waiting for the judges' scores...
He was criticised for his choreography last week and advised to tone it down. I'm sure he was just anxious to hear the judges response to his routine.

If they had fallen out and can still dance like that, then power to them, it was wonderful.

I have loved Ali from week 1, she is such a graceful dancer.....not perfect but lovely to watch. Hopefully Brian has got the message about the choreography so that he just makes it a little bit harder each week she will gain confidence and we may have a winner.

Oh yeah definitely, it was great to see Ali do so well this week

I phrased that wrong actually, I meant after the scores. Cos they got brilliant comments and a 37, but even as Tess was saying that it was the highest score of the series so far, I thought he still looked a bit off.

He's been ill this week (chest infection) so I assume he was just relieved and feeling peaky!

Hmm, did the judges praise him for his routine along with Ali's performance? I can't remember

Aww that would make sense then! I didn't know he was ill as well as Ali, they did a great job to give that performance then

I don't remember exactly, I think maybe Alesha and Craig said something? I'll watch it back tomorrow.

I was really impressed that he took their comments about simplifying the choreography on board, considering other pros reactions to having their routines criticised. Vincent is my fave pro but I feel sometimes his choreography is a bit too difficult for his celeb partners; nice to see Brian is trying to avoid this now.

That is my problem though. Is a simple routine, impeccably executed, better than a more difficult routine with faults.
I know everyone will disagree, but I found it rather dull.
Very good dull..but still dull.
Yes but her competition is Zoe and Jade and what they did was even simpler and duller and less artistic. If she can keep that margin the opposition will be Ricky W, who she might beat on the right ground or who will get the sex vote and be unbeatable , or Phil who lots of people can beat dancing but who may have the votes or one of the jokey blokey males. Laila ought to be there but Anton's Latin is a millstone.

I think his first reaction was elation. Followed by celebration. Then disbelief when told it was the highest score of the series.

After that he did look a little bit spaced out but that was probably relief after his choreography was heavily criticised last week. Or thats what i thought anyway.

After their admission last night on ITT that the routine went off in the middle - I suspect he might have been fearful of a slagging from the judges

Brian is very respectful and i suspect he wanted the judges to recognise he'd taken comments on board. I often wonder what the brief is for the pro dancers as Aliona seemed to be unaware of what was expected of her when she partnered Rav.... and was criticised for it

Only she bruised her toe badly on Thursday, so I'm a little nervous. Nonetheless I doubt that's going to put them off from giving a stunning performance.
