They must have a ballroom next week, and in my opinion the two of the upcoming latins they should excel, so they could make it to blackpool

I thought they would be bottom 2 tonight, I was almost certain when Craig & Flavia got announced, but I do think 28 is a good improvement from 22, and hopefully with the comments tonight Anton will finally take drastic action, they've made it to week 7 with NO dance off so they have the suppourt despite what happened, so he should act upon that and get that help!

Of course it might have helped Laila if she'd bothered turning up for the specially arranged samba session with Chris Marques this week which she cancelled at the last minute. Yes, that's dedication!

I think they did okay, and I do like Laila. The choreography wasn't great, that's obvious, but she seemed to give it her all. I was expecting lower than 28 after the remarks they got.

Unless you know the reason for her canceling, I think it's a bit unfair to judge her.

She's a single mum as far as I know. Maybe that had a bearing on why she couldn't make the session?

I'm not sure how much she would have benefited from it anyway. If anyone needed Samba training and tips, it's Anton

I just don't think Laila is a natual latin dancer. I'm really puzzled why the judges seem to think she could do better. From her first appearance in the group dance in week 1 it was pretty obvious she wasn't going to be that good at latin.

I was a bit miffed at their comments actually, Alesha was the only one actually praising Laila. Some far worse people getting better comments. *Sighs in relief that ballroom should be back for a few weeks*

Hubbie who is unfamilar with the 'Anton can't do latin' arguement pointed out all the judges's critisisms were to do with cheorography which is Anton's fault surely. I feel sorry for Laila she danced what was there very well if anything Anton looked worse.

I really like Laila and I thought she showed a glimmer of Latin competency tonight. It's quite alright if she dazzles more in Ballroom but Anton's really quite basic uninspiring choreography (a criticism I would be tempted to aim even at their Ballroom) needs shaking up if they are to last. It's a real shame but I am beginning to resign myself to thinking she may not last as long as I had hoped.

Look, the Samba, the Jive and the Cha Cha Cha are all out of the way now, Anton is fine with everything yet to come. Tonight was a mile stone for them, onwards and upwards now.

I do agree that Anton's choreography tonight let Laila down, I was pleased they both got through the routine and it looked relatively competent, but there was nothing exciting about it. I think it is a real shame for Laila, watching the pro's dance I couldn't help thinking she would have been much better off paired with Matt Cutler. Yes she is weaker at Latin but she needs a partner that can help her with it and choreograph to her skills and sadly it's looking more and more like Anton can't do that.

But yes TeresaAl - its a good thing they have got those ones out of the way !

I really liked this dance Laila and Anton were great. The disco thrack worked really well. I really enjoyed the dance.

Laila did ok tonight. I like her as she does have natural rhythm and seems more interesting than the rest of the celebs who are like cyborgs. At least they've got 3 fast latin dances out of the way.

How wrong and disappointed was I!?

OK, the routine was a bit cheesy in places, but it was a Disco track so what choreography did the judges expect?

I thought the Samba suited Laila. She danced with rhythm and never went wrong.

I thought the judges could have been a touch more positive with their comments because it was a vast improvement on what we've seen from her in Latin up til now.”

I agree Sid and in particular I couldn't get over Bruno's comments. Why on earth would Anton give her more complicated choreography when tonight was the first time she made it through a routine - and I'm talking about ballroom and Latin???

She must be thinking she just can win with the judges.

I was waiting for them all to say she was on her way now and couldn't believe some of the comments they got, especially when they all gave them a 7! Madness.

I thought Laila did a creditable job, and I was expecting the judges to me much more positive in their comments.

OTOH, I thought 7s was a reasonable score.

BTW, Laila & Anton placing below Ricky G & Erin and Natalie & Vincent was due to Len who was the only judge to give those couples a different mark (8 instead of 7).

I agree, he was probably terrified of going for anything too challenging, and went for something she seemed comfortable doing and it worked!

They got through and can look forward to the other dances knowing the 3 fast latins are out of the way, good times. I hope they carry on for many weeks to come, I've never seen Anton attempt an Argentinian Tango for example.

I thought that was a bit unfair, actually. Last week Laila demonstrated just how bad she was at Latin - in training and on the floor. I think she got to grips with the idea and had a damned good go this week.

I don't think it's all down to Anton - he was really relieved she managed not to forget the routine, and she didn't dispute it at all.

I was pleased with her, and him - I don't think she could have handled more complicated personally.

Anton did an argentine tango with Patsy in series 3, as part of a group dance where all the couples danced one.

As for fast latins out of the way- what about the salsa?
