Ok, if we assume Natalie says she is a size 12 when she really is closer to a 16, what message does that send to young girls.

We know she is not skinny. Does that mean young women will now see 12 as being too big and want to be an 8?

A healthy size is dependent on body frame. Maybe she just shouldn't have mentioned clothes size at all and said she wasn't comfortable with the lifts.

well she seems to be the only one the t.v adds weight to. Zoe admits she is a 12 , she has a lovely curvy figure but way smaller than Natalie. For what it's worth I do enjoy her dancing, but her American Smooth had something missing without the lifts.

It does. I've seen Camilla in real life and she's even slimmer than she appeared on the television, and I know a couple of people who've had bit parts on television and looked larger than they really are. I've not seen Natalie in real life, but I would imagine it's perfectly possible for her to be a size twelve - she's really not that large.

It's not our problem if people think Natalie is "too big". I don't see Natalie as too big whether she's a 12 or a 16. That says more about how you see Natalie's body than it does about your concern for poor young girls.

To me, a small girl, a 12 is pretty "big", not because there's anything wrong with it but because I have a small frame and would have to be a lot bigger to get there. To some, taller girls, a 12 might be very slim and unobtainable. I already look slightly round at a size 8! I can judge for myself what the right size is for ME. I'm not going to go "Well X is an 8 and Y is a 12 so I must be a 4!!!" or "Well X is a 12 so I should be a 14!!!!!"

Why can't people just be the size that they are, EPSECIALLY when it's in a relatively low/normal body range, without judgement of whether it's too big or too small?

I never said it was our problem. I just said she didn't need to refer to her size and none of this controversy would have occurred.

I have no problem with Natalie's size. I am much bigger than Natalie. Love yourself is my motto.

This is a direct quote from you. Note the words in bold:

"We know she is not skinny. Does that mean young women will now see 12 as being too big"

It was said, by you, in the context of Natalie's size.

I think this thread says more about how we have become conditioned into thinking size 6/8 is normal when really, in the flesh (i.e not viewed through a camera) these size 6 celebs are absolutely tiny.

Its perfectly possible for Natalie to be size 12 given her height and the TV adding pounds effect.

This may be true, but she has an accentuated classic "pear shape" which I would suggest doesn't conform to regular sizing.

I'd just like to add, and I'm only saying it because Natalie herself brought it up, I don't believe she is a size 12. My mum and I were in the audience last week when SCD was being filmed and we both commented how Natalie looked bigger than a 12 in real life. Both of us are size 14-16 and Natalie was at least the same size as us.

Yes, he's another one who comes in for quite a lot of flak.

No need to adjust.

Natalie got exactly what she wanted - people talking about her.

So if the camera adds weight and she is actually a size 12, the other female celebs and dancers must all be sizes 6-8 but just look like a 10-12 because the camera has added weight. Or is it just on Natalie that the camera has added weight on to??

I couldn't care less whether she's a size 12 or not but I do think it's sad people have automatically leapt on her and called her a 'blatant liar' when they do not actually know the truth. As far as I can tell it's perfectly plausible that she is a size 12, owing both to the fact it's tv, and her height.

It is well documented the problems Natalie has had with her weight and I wish that people would just leave her alone to dance, personally I think she did very well tonight and her and Vincent look great together.”

Couldn't agree more. And how great is it to see a womanly size girl doing so well in this glamorous form of entertainment. I actually don't doubt that she has told the truth about her size, but then, I don't really care what size she is. A lot of women out there are sooo thin, I am a curvaceous size 16/18 and see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Other half says he would rather have an armful of woman than a handful of bones

Yeah, I think that's about it.

I'm a size 8-10 and felt like a complete heifer when I saw Erin a few months ago.

I have to agree she is very small so a size 12 will look bigger on her than someone who is taller - my sister is a size 12 but is 5ft 9 so she looks very slim - I have no problem believing what Natalie says

Thanks for this chiefette, hope this is an end to the debate. natalie would have been better to have told the truth or not said anything. Still like her though.

But chiefette's opinion is still just an opinion. It would only cease to be an opinion if she'd taken a photo next to them to prove conclusively that Natalie's dimensions are physically wider than theirs. You have no right to call her a liar.

She's quite short so I have no problems accepting that she is a size 12.

And what doe is matter if some viewers don't believe her.

And you have no right to call Chiefette and her mother liars.Which of course you will play with words and say you haven't.

I am no fan of Natalie Cassidy but really. To start another horrible thread about her dress size is extremely unkind. It is a known fact that television makes anyone look at least 10 lbs heavier. I can remember seeing John Prescott in the flesh and whilst he was big - he wasn't as gi-normous as he appears on television. Natalie is a healthy weight and is exercising every day and doesn't deserve the flak she is getting on this forum.

Yes, you are right, it is my opinion. But at least I have seen her with my own eyes, can you say the same?? My opinion is based on what I saw in real life, not on a television screen.

It is unkind - but Natalie left herself wide open to speculation over her size, by introducing the subject herself.

That's the second post where you are attempting to tell people what to do.
If you want to discuss dancing, feel free.. On the appropriate thread, which isn't this one.

There are two threads as I started the first one using a "tongue in cheek" title, which didn't mention Ms Cassidy by name.

I asked the question and people added their opinions on the topic.

That for your information, is how message boards should work.

I'm a size 8. I had a photo taken with her and she was EXACTLY the same size and shape as me, just with a bigger bum and thighs.

TV and photos are extremely deceptive. Being next to Vincent is also a massive problem. If he were to wear women's clothes, he'd probably be a size 8-10 MAX which makes her look a lot bigger than she would with a bigger male pro.”

How can you be EXACTLY the same size when she has a 'bigger bum and thighs'?
