Didnt sulk- went back out and did another routine a few minutes later. Then spent the next week training hard and came back with a fantastic waltz (hence his presence yest)

I stand by my assertion- LOTS of people are forgetting the routine this year, this is not just a Matt DA problem...

Lots of celebs have messed up over the 7 series.
Matt is the only one to have gone into strop-mode during a performance. You simply don't let your partner down like that. That was the height of disrespect to his partner and the audience.

I can't stand the chap. I freely admit it.

Ive seen the performance several times and NEVER noticed a STROP????

Anyway- I think we'll just acknowledge that you dont like him and leave it at that....

He completely messed up but there was no strop. He blanked and couldn't continue. He was totally mortified and embarrassed. How was that a strop?

He didn't, the only bit he forgot was at the end when he finished a few seconds early. When they went back to the steps there would have been a few things there but other than that he got through the dance. Did you ever see ITT when they showed the rehearsal compared to the real show?

Im sorry...when did he sulk? All I saw was him being upset that he messed up and then (as boddism said) he came out in the samba and really gave it his all, and again in the xmas special (filmed week after foxtrot and samba) and again in waltz and AT week. When he got the only perfect score of the series, I never saw him sulking once.

Get over it, everyone else has and it's been two years.


Again...I never saw a strop. It was nerves and that is something you can't control, you think he planned on letting Flavia down? You cant say you simply don't put your partner down like that...it was beyond his control and he tried again in the samba. No disrespect, he tried with dances he had struggled with all week.

When a kid just gives up on something then I call it a strop. It's a childish thing to do. Not at all grown-up.

In my opinion he let her down badly and make himself look ridiculous.

I know there are lots of Matt-lovers out there. He did very well in the competition but I still dislike him and will continue to say so if I feel like it! And I still think Tommy Docherty shouldn't have been kicked out by the Man U management in the mid-70s. Now there's an example of not letting something go!!!!!!!

I still say he didn't give up, he finished a bit early and just because the routine finished on the stairs people think that he gave up.

Everyone has moved on from it now and getting Matt in must have done something as Craig was so much improved this week.

Can't you cut him some slack for being so young and inexperienced? He froze on national tv - live. I find it entirely understandable. And I expect he learnt a lot from it and wouldn't do the same today but how old was he at the time?

I think this is the key to it. A lot of people say "Why did he go and sit on the stairs??" but in fact he was MEANT to!!

And I think a 20 yr old with NO live or stage experience, to do that well on SCD, as opposed to people who've been doing live performances for YEARS who still struggle (and do worse!) is saying something.....

I love not loving Matt. I am always very pro-underdog. Give me your lame ducks over Matt any day. Or Ricky W or Ali for that matter.

Great dancer. Great. But she needs to be a lot tougher on her partners - the good and the poor.

Not sure if being tougher on craig wouldve made him even worse! (esp early on!) I DO think he is getting a bit cocky now tbh...

Im hoping next week will be his last (although frankly there are other dancer who arent that great overall too...)

Yeah, I think all these guys getting their personal lives plastered over the papers does rather invite one to speculate about their personalities and conduct.

It's an inevitable concomitant of appearing on TV. They talk about themselves and know it's a contractual commitment to do all the "journey" stuff. If they don't like the attention then they might consider opting out.

not sure if this thread has gone off track - but from the title 'Poor Flavia'.......I assume that people feel sorry for her dancing with Craig. well I for one do not like her - she is cold and stuck up. Clear facial expressions and body language showing that she has contempt for Craig( strong words but clear in her micro expressions) and this cannot help anyone form a good partnership........I dont feel sorry for her.....

Perhaps you ought to be careful of alienating a proportion of people who might be voting for Craig due to their like and loyalty to Flavia, thanks to Matt, rather than any great feeling towards Craig?

Actually I'm voting for Craig, despite the Matt thing. And to suggest that folks would only be loyal to Flavia because of Matt ... oh words fail me. What happened to being defined as yourself rather than your man?

So you think that he deliberately let down the person he ended up going out with doesn't it compute if he did it wasn't a choice he made? You're not deliberately going to let down the person you love and make yourself look like a berk in front of several million people are you?

I tend to pick marmite characters to like both real and fictional so I'm used to people having a go at them but I defend my right to defend them as much as others right not to like them.
