Whose vote is Craig attracting?

I vote for him because I like him simple as that, He is a great actor and has been in some of my favourite tv shows, I see a normal bloke who is trying his hardest, I think he knows that he is rubbish but why shouldnt he keep asking for votes, he wants to stay in just like the rest of them are.

I really hope he gets to blackpool, I will be happy for him to go out then because to him thats his final,

I think Bruno was incredibly rude to him last night especially when he threw up his hands and turned away, they are there to be constructive but they go too far sometimes. I think when people see contestants being treated in that way they will then make a point of voting for them.

In a funny way I would rather watch Craig than the personality vacums that are Ali and Ricky W

It think it is that he is genuinely a nice guy, who is trying hard, some of us feel sorry for him that he has Flavia as his partner as she doesn't seem to want to dance with him, even though she has been fab with other partners in the past.

Ok, I can't believe I'm admitting this ...

I'm from Blackpool

And I don't vote for Craig, so its not because people from Blackpool are voting for him because I don't know anyone who does. I vote for who I think is good and who I believe deserves to win regardless of where they come from and actually at the moment there is no one on Strictly I'm voting for because no one has blown me away yet.

Why people are voting for Craig? I think there are a number of possibilities.

1. Sympathy Vote.

2. Corrie Vote - people who hate rosie webster + people who hate tony gordon = people who think craig is a hero.

3. They aren't voting for Craig. They are voting for Flavia.

4. Because of the whole wanting to dance at Blackpool thing.

5. (My personal favourite theory ) They are voting because every week the sheer joy on Craig's face when they announce he is through combined with the horror on Flavia's face at the same announcement is hilarious! The week Lynda Bellingham went out you could see the relief written all over Flavia's face when she thought her and Craig were out turn to complete "No, no, no - What do you mean we're through? There must be some mistake? Please, don't let it be true!!!!!!!".

Also, just a point. Craig does realise, you don't have to still be in Strictly to dance at Blackpool does he? Anyone can dance at the Tower when the ballroom is open to the public!

I think he just come across as an ordinary bloke trying to learn to dance. He has no tricks up his sleeve, no gimmicks just tries his best.
The fact he dances with Flavia helps too i'm sure, if he was with a new pro I don't think he'd has lasted this long - or at least he'd have been in more dance-offs

I really dont understand why people think having Flavia as a partner is helping him? He's been in the bottom 2 before and other VERY popular pros like Matt C, Lilia, Darren have been voted out.
The only times Craig hasnt been in the bottom 2 is when hes begged people to reach blackpool week. I wouldnt be suprised if he lasts till then and as soon as thats over hes in the bottom 2 and out!

Although he is a bad dancer, he doesn't seem to be "so bad it is funny", so I'd be surprised if that was drawing votes.

He hasn't really improved so it can't be said he is having that infamous reality tv word, the "journey".

He seems very miserable (which I think is nerves) but he doesn't seem to be dazzling with his personality.

His relationship with Flavia seems rather business-like.

So, as far as I can see, he isn't displaying the things that usually draw votes. Who is voting for him and why?!

This isn't a wind up thread, I'd genuinely like to know!”

The British public are voting for him because they want to help me and Mrs Bhoy win our £75 bet.

Actually, I would argue with the score he got, it didn't look 7 points worse than Tuffers' to me. I wouldn't argue with his placing I mean. I think that is part of the votes, plus he seems a nice bloke trying his hardest, and being hurt and frustrated with himself and the judges comments.

EDIT: Buddy's previous post has it right, and says it far better than mine ”

I've noticed that Bruno has been horrible a couple of times this series. Last week he was so hard on Ali with his comments that I thought she was going to start crying there and then. And blow me, didn't he then go and give her a good mark?! It occurred to me it could have been partly due to his frustration with her, as she has so much potential. It has also gone through my mind that he might think he is the next judge to be replaced and he is trying to be more focused - his marking has been pretty good so far this series.

I've just watched Craig's bit on the show again and I still don't think the judges were unfair to Craig. Bruno does use his flowery descriptions (Royal Mail failing to deliver was obviously scripted) - but he does that with everybody and he did say 'sorry' at the end - and the other judges seemed pretty reasonable to me, giving their comments in tones of regret.

I think people have to bear in mind that this was week 6 and out of the duffers only Craig and Jo are left, so their comments and marks are going to be less complimentary than the other couples left. Craig has definitely improved in the sense of he can get through a decent routine without making mistakes, but his lack of basic rhythm is always going to let him down. At least he is still in the competition and tbh it wouldn't bother me if Zoe & James or Ricky G & Erin went home before Craig, as those couples don't thrill me - but then that would mean a huge row would break out about losing betters dancers than Craig, especially if Zoe & James go home first. That's Strictly for you.

He's attracting my vote because I can see he's trying his absolute best and he's not getting constructive criticism from the judges. In fact Alesha and Bruno were just nasty to him last night, which I felt was undeserved. At least help him out with some tips rather than just slate him...

I see quite a few of the other clebs almost coasting along on their personality, while Craig seems to have a huge block somewhere, and I'd like to see him overcome that. I think he deserves to stay in longer. Hence, I'm voting for him.

I honestly don't know how people can watch him dance much less vote for him.

Even in the SCD opening titles he couldn't quite pull off looking anything like a dancer.

He's not even bad enough to be amusing. Felt bad for him when after six weeks Bruno called him "Chris."

I assume people are dialling the wrong number.

I agree with you, he is painful to watch, I am afraid someone who is good will go before he does. It is atalent show after all and Craig has no talent when it comes to dancing.
At least Jo went last night.

This is going to sound really really silly but it really really bugs me when he ALWAYS stands in the wrong place in the Tesspitt. The woman is meant to stand on the left and the man on the right no matter which is the celeb and which the pro and EVERY SINGLE WEEK he has got it wrong this seems to sum him up completely unaware of anything going on around him

Did Bruno not get Craig's name wrong ( called him Chris) it was only after he was corrected promptly on this ( not sure by who) that he seemed to become aggressive in his critism of Craig. Anyone else shed light on this?

It was Alesha who prompted him. I didn't see him change the way he was talking about him though.

OMG! I'm so glad someone else thinks this too - I thought I was being a numpty about it. I'm so relieved. I'm surprised that no-one has told him.

You could add too that he's not always been at the bottom of the leaderboard so its not an automatic vote for whoever is and there are several other weak males who are pulling in votes probably on some of the grounds you mention. He's also not journeying to anywhere in a dancing rather than a blackpool sense. Perhaps there's just enough people who do whatever Tess says and if she says save him they do?

That's a new kind of SCD 'journey' I guess!

Am I allowed to mention that the whole Blackpool episode is a pointless gimic? Why disrupt people's training schedules and add filming expense as some sort of sop to the North and then not at least make sure that the tickets for that show go to locals only? Plus it has given Craig some sort of free pass into November because he can claim a birthplace within 50 miles. Heaven help what 'local' entertainer we will have to suffer.

More of a geographical journey than a dancing journey then.

Yeah I've got to admit I'm one of those people! I'm mainly voting for Flavia but I also voted for Craig because, although he wasn't very good, he deserved more than a 3 from Craig! I think Craig will go out next week though.

Constructive in that it should make him do better? Anyway, you can't say it wasn't true

I think he is getting the sympathy vote and also I'm sure his fans are voting for him more than once to make sure they get him to Blackpool.
