I remember seeing their intros. Her going "I need a gentle teacher" and him going "I'm a taskmaster" and thinking 'oh dear this isn't going to go well which is a shame because he's cute'. They were both very unlucky to get each other - she would have flourished better with someone like Ian whom she clearly adored and unfortunately it's bulit up an anti-fan base for him which didn't help when he critised JS which I didn't agree with what he said but I appreciate his bravery in saying it. I wonder if Brendan would have had the fan base he does if his first partner had been Sarah Manners whom he clashed with equally if not more specularly. The intial adverse reaction to James has also created a vicious circle where every year he underdeservedly needs up in the dance-off whilst the public save some complete duffer which understandably makes him cross and that makes him even more unpopular because he doesn't have the type of personality where he can not comment about that being unfair.
I wonder if he'd be paired with Gaby from the off if he would have been better liked.
