Does anyone know what "Merry Madagascar" Got in the ratings in america last week?

Pardon me for interrupting, but does anyone know when we get the Ratings Thread back?

This is getting ridiculous, frankly. Particularly when there's a whole forum dedicated to the X Factor for its obsessives to go to.

Although there are rumours that KP's alleged exit was all pre-planned by her and ITV...

Just goes to show it's stuff like Time Team specials which they should be showing against The X Factor. A true alternative, but not necessarily a plain documentary.

They were pretty stupid last week showing When Boris Met Dave opposite The X Factor - they should have held that till Friday really and played it versus Children in Need at 9pm, where I think it would have done much better.

Discussing the nation's number 1 programme in the ratings thread, whether the quality of the show and its impact on ratings etc or not is still valid discussion, equally as valid as discussing flood coverage on BBC News etc

I do think that the press coverage about Jedward has helped boost X Factor's ratings this year. And I think there'll be a small drop next week, but nothing significant. Some people on TXF forums are predicting a 20-25% drop, but it won't be that much!

Looking at Strictly's ratings last year, the week after John Sergeant left was down about half a million. So it wasn't anything major, particularly as the previous week was a series high anyway.

Last week on TXF, 16.4m tuned in to watch Lloyd and Jamie in the sing-off. So there's a huge interest in the show anyway regardless of whether Jedward are in it or not. With only 3 weeks to go until the final, the timing of Jedward's exit couldn't have been much better (maybe next week was what the producers were hoping for?). I'm confident that nearly all viewers will stick with it as the competition really heats up from next week when the contestants sing twice.

I echo rzt and James J. The discussion was about how the events would impact directly on the ratings. It was valid. There are so many irrelevant topics that pop up regularly in this thread and we don't hear a peep from Robbie.

Chances are if you've followed it this far, you'll stick it through with only 3 weeks to the final. JEdward have been in the bottom two twice, there will be as many glad that they've gone as there are those disappointed.

I do think the Adrenaline Junkie ratings will be interesting, on ITV1 at 10pm, an unexpected move.

Perhaps, bosses might be wanting a permament move. It's an OK show, but very ITV2.

I don't see why ITV go for a consistent 'News at Ten' most of the year round on Sunday nights. There will always be the odd moment when 'News at Ten' has to become 'The Late News', but I think it does best on the Sunday night, and could have an effect on ITV's midweek performance.

I still echo the many complaints about the news format of News at Ten changing from unique to generic. It was a terrible shame, and it has lost its special status now. It was steadily growing, and in time, could've become more popular than BBC News.

It's all about ITV developing their 9pm shows, so eventally, viewers will watch the News at Ten.

I have always found the BBC coverage very pompous and boring, whereas ITN (especially News at Ten) has always pulled out the stops to have correspondents on location.

I'd like to see the coverage, however, return to stylish broadsheet form, instead of the tabloidy Daily Mail/Mirror/human interest stuff we are getting now.

The revived News at Ten went some way to achieving that, but all that hard work seems to be for nothing. ITV losing two other great brands too, The Evening News and The Late News, is disappointing to see.

Cheers for the Aussie figures, as always, Dancc. Is there a chance that Idol could be axed with those ratings? I read that last year it was quite close to getting axed and it was only saved in favour of Big Brother. I dunno if that was true or not. But 1.47m doesn't look too particularly good.

That's OK, you're welcome. The ranking refers to the position it came for the day. So in the case of the Winner Announced slot, it was behind both Seven News and The Force, hence 3rd.

You're right, the figures are far from brilliant. And the weekly shows haven't been rating all that well at all, often below the 1m mark. But despite all that it has been doing ok in the all important demos and Ten recently announced it will be back for an eighth run next year.

Had Celebrity MasterChef rated better this summer, then perhaps things might have been different. But as it is, that hasn't exactly set the ratings alight either. Ten are short of hits and need to make the most of what they have got.

And I thought we celebrated Christmas early. Wow, the singing contest places Ten in third place. That wouldn't happen here or in America.

It did pretty well, tied second in its half hour slot.

How are Ugly Betty and Heroes doing in the States this season? Continuing their declines or getting by? I read a rumour that Ugly Betty might replace Eastwick but I'm a bit out of touch with ratings otherwise, I'm afraid.

Looks like Australian Idol is still holding on. But its declines do seem to have been sharper than X Factor in the UK (which has done the opposite) and American Idol in the US (which is down quite a bit over the past 3 years, but not massively).

I've said before that there seems to be a real shortage of new format hits. Can anyone really see From Popstar to Opera star selling into dozens of countries worldwide?!

Wipeout did well, but it hasn't been huge. The Colour of Money flopped despite much hype. Lets Dance did well here but despite selling to ABC appears to have been axed before it even made it on air.

In the US, the top 2 freshman non scripted shows were Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutchers "True Beauty" which aired on ABC to slightly above average demo ratings and will apparently have a second run. NBC had "Superstars of Dance" from Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller but despite some decent ratings at the start, a slide as the series progressed means it has been axed.

ITV are going for a dating format in the new year and a show similar to Wipeout. I suppose there's always a chance for the dating format. I think there's room for a dating show just now but it's difficult to say whether this will be the one.

Next year we might see new formats from Fuller and Cowell with both starting new ventures. But like everything in that genre, they're hit and miss. For every Idol, there's an All American Girl and for every Got Talent there's a Celebrity Duets. Both seem likely to try and make some kind of fashion related programming but I think that's probably covered with Next Top Model, Project Runway and Stylista.

Ugly Betty is doing pretty badly on Fridays. The last episode had a 1.3 rating. It only beat a repeat of Bones by 0.1 and was well behind Medium (1.9) and Dateline (1.7).

There were rumours about a move to Wednesdays, but nothing confirmed. ABC's schedule is going to have a bit of midseason upheaval so there's a number of options on the cards.

Heroes is going down again. It always finishes a distant 4th in its slot and has set all time lows again this season. But NBC is going down faster. So at this point, it could get another season.

1.3? Yikes. I guess Ugly Betty would do better if it does end up moving to Eastwick's slot but still, it sounds like it's probably past the point of no return now. It's a shame because it's a pretty well made show but I can see why people have lost interest in it.

It'll be interesting to see if the fourth season airs on Channel 4. It isn't really earning it's place but considering C4's recent performance, they might as well stick with it. They don't seem to have much else to offer in it's place, and I'm not convinced they're in a position to throw away anymore established shows, no matter how weak those shows are.

This is definetly Ugly Betty's last season, the move to Friday was the nail in the coffin, as for Heroes I would be inclined to say yes because more budget cuts would hurt the show and I think NBC needs to cut some dead wood in order to move forward.

I wonder if BBC1 will show it over xmas? They showed Shrek The Halls last year (or the year before) and it got a fairly good rating (somewhere between 5 and 7m if i remember correctly) So it would be a good thing to have on either Christmas Eve or the big day itself

It's possible but then again they didn't the Monsters Vs Aliens special but I think they have to bid for it unlike the movies which are part of a package.
