Incidentally, Davina's 'Got to Dance' on Sky 1 is going out live on Sunday nights from 24th Jan.

Where it will be totally crushed by DOI.
Unless they put it on at 6pm. Scheduled to start as the footie finishes on Sky Sports 1.

Not including special events (Superbowl, Academy Awards etc).

1. Friends - 52.5m - NBC (2004)
2. Survivor - 51.7m - CBS (2000)
3. Joe Millionaire - 40.0m - FOX (2003)
4. ER - 39.4m - NBC (2000)
5. American Idol - 38.1m - FOX (2007)
6. Greys Anatomy - 38.0m - ABC (2006)
7. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - 36.0m - ABC (2000)
8. Frasier - 33.7m - NBC (2000)
9. Everybody Remembers Raymond - 32.9m - CBS (2005)
10. Spin City - 32.8m - ABC (2000)

7 were from the first half of the decade, 3 from the second half.

4 sitcoms
4 unscripted
2 dramas (both medical)

ABC and NBC had 3. FOX and CBS had 2.

Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond were the series finales. Survivor was the climax of the first season. Joe Millionaire was the first season finale and a contender for "biggest TV one hit wonder". Frasier was a season finale where Niles revealed his feelings to Daphne. Spin City was the last episode where Michael Fox appeared. American Idol was the 6th season premiere. Greys Anatomy was the one after the Superbowl.

Strong all round for ITV last night, but unsurprisingly so. Obvious Big Bang Theory was just being used as glorified filler, there was no point in the BBC putting a new drama into the slot. Channel Four and Five both held up well - I bet Five are salivating at the thought of post Christmas and Liverpool entering the competition. Any ideas of what'll happen to Fulham (if they qualify)? Will they be picked up by ITV4 or will they not have any channel airing their matches?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

One question looking at the ITV schedule for Boxing Day - why is You've Been Framed airing after TV Burp? I would've thought it'd have been the other way round?

They dont want to waste TV Burp against Eastenders. Boxing Day evening is going to be very interesting. Arguably ITV's biggest effort to put decent shows on but BBC have the last POTC film with an Eastenders lead-in.

ITV has the better line-up IMO. Will be very interesting to see how that one plays out. With an EE lead-in the BBC could do well but the POTC film is overly long and a bit of a convoluted mess so I could see a lot of people tuning out after a while.

I thinks hes good and the audiences for More Talent are much bigger that the Xtra Factor so others must think he's ok aswell. Your opinion of course.

Yeh ITV's line up is better especially as ive seen the film already but I reckon BBC will edge it. Would be a shame if ITV's most original line-up of the week gets beat as I think they will lose every other night.

Oh I forgot about EastEnders being on - that's fair enough then.

The Prisoner has had a slating from those who've already seen it. Has it already been shown in America?
Yes and its ratings weren't great shedding a lot of viewers along the way. You're right about the 'slating' - the critics didn't like it and the reviews on IMDB are scathing to say the least. I think as a remake of a cult classic it was doomed from the start and whatever expectations ITV have for this I hope, for their sake, they aren't very high because I can see this flopping massively for them.

Mere words cannot do justice to how awful the prisoner remake is. I freely admit I love the original and am biased, but I sat through all 6 long hours of the remake and it MAKES NO SENSE. And not in a good way.

I don't believe they'll put it on ITV1 primetime.

I think it will do similar to what Dead Man's Chest did last year which was about 6-7m or slightly higher, the length will put some people off although it's not a bad film but the first film is by far the best of the trilogy.

I expect The Incredibles will do very well, why they put Shark Tale in the 3.10pm slot last year rather than Madagascar or Wallace and Gromit was a strange decision.

Well I've had a look and I've complied a couple of lists. The one below is without duplicates (most watched ep of each show). It's a little trickier when you're doing sport events though - I opted for the most watched match of each tournament. 'Tonight' could have had a second entry as well with the Michael Jackson documentary but I counted that as a duplicate:

1. Only Fools and Horses - 21.35m - BBC1 (2001)
2. Euro 2004: England v Portugal - 20.66m - BBC1 (2004)
3. EastEnders - 20.05m - BBC1 (2001)
4. Coronation Street - 19.43m - ITV1 (2003)
5. World Cup 2006: England v Sweden - 18.46m - ITV1 (2006)
6. Britain's Got Talent - 18.29m - ITV1 (2009)
7. Wallace and Gromit: A Matter Of Loaf and Death - 16.15m - BBC1 (2008)
8. Tonight: Millionaire - 16.10m - ITV1 (2003)
9. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - 15.88m - ITV1 (2000)
10. Heartbeat - 15.16m - ITV1 (2000)
Interesting, only 3 from the second half of the decade and one was a Christmas day show and one was from the World Cup. Looks like the decline in audiences is every bit as big as the US.

No doubt that the World Cup will top the 2010 ratings. Second round match should be against Germany or Australia which could be huge and England go in stronger than in any other competition this decade.

Kick off time is either:

- 12:30
- 15:00
- 19:30
Thats not bad to schedule actually.

I guess the 19.30pm kick offs make scheduling disruptions simple enough for the BBC - just expect to see EastEnders airing at 9.30pm on the days its displaced. I doubt the football coverage would run to 10 - for England games, yes - but its too much time for the weaker group games.

ITV will have to do a whole lot more shuffling - especially on games that fall Mon/Thurs/Fri and displace 90 minutes of soap.

Tuesday 22nd - Paradox vs The Bill should be an ITV win... unless Paradox sparks an emergency revival...

Thats if Paradox hasn't been booted out for a repeat of New Tricks.

BBC will win the night as they have Eastenders and Holby City.

If The Bill can't beat Paradox then it really is in trouble.

I'll predict a peak of around 19.2m at 22:10 as England get knocked out on penalties.

Yeah, definitely my Flop of the Year nomination. Totally Saturday would be a close second, but the Norton vehicle did at least manage to stay in the schedule until the end of its run!
No, The series was cut short by one episode

I do like Alastair Stewart - ITV News seem to be using him as the "main" anchor since his move to the EN.

I wonder if it'll be Alastair in London with the fireworks like the BBC? That was the main problem with the Music type shows they didn't show the fireworks - although i expect it to be lower than BBC's version it could rate better the music shows.
Is it too much to ask for a Reggie Bosanquet moment on ITN this NYE?

Excluding the final, according to BBC News, I'm a Celebrity's... average for this year was 8.4m, the highest since Carol Thatcher won in 2005.
