Brilliant, so pleased for Collision. Last night's episode set the scene really nicely for the rest of the week. The test now is to see if it can hold those sorts of figures. I think there will be a drop off, but I'm really hoping it's not much of one.

Wow at Collision! Brilliant rating.

While, yes the last quarter is lower, I suspect it was brought down by a poor last 5 minutes as viewers hopped to News at Ten. I can see it at least about 6m tonight.

It seems like the Kym Marsh thing on ITV1 at 8pm also dented EastEnders slightly.

I really am surprused at that rating!!! I was expecting between 5.5m and 6.5m but to average 7.5m truly is astonishing!
Not surprised it dipped at the end however, as it was a slow burner...

Just wondering:

Given Collision's rating, has anyone's prediction for I'm A Celebrity got slightly higher knowing that viewers can (if possible!) not channel hop after Corrie?

Great figures for Collision! Shame it lost a fair amount over the hour, but with such dire competition tonight, I expect it to certainly hold above 6.5m on average. Last night's episode was pretty good too, but I think the next four will be a lot better myself, with last night basically just introducing us to all the characters. Looking forward to tonight!

Doesn't it premiere after X Factor?

'Angela and Friends' began on Sky 1 yesterday at 2pm with 35,000 (0.6%).

That's under the yearly slot average of 45,800 (0.75%). Not a good start!

True, but you'd expect a drop between nights 1 and 2, I would have originally expected about 8m on the Monday, maybe time to increase that to 9/10m?

Lol, DS calls the 'Collision' rating respectable. Respectable? 7.5m is a brilliant rating for a drama.

Too right, plus it beat Emmerdale.

Perhaps DS is old enough to remember when 7.5m would have got a drama axed.

Slight exaggeration, perhaps (or perhaps not) but does anyone remember what sort of figures London's Burning, Soldier Soldier and Peak Practice were getting when they were dropped?

Quite surprised at how high BBC2s new comedy Miranda did last night 2.5m is on a par with most of their cooking shows in that slot and higher than most Thurdsday Night comedies. What was Parent of the Band getting on BBC1 last year presumably not much more than this?

Brilliant start for Collision, about 1.5m higher than what I expected. It's the third most watched brand new drama this year according to overnight ratings, behind Whitechapel (8.1m) and Unforgiven (7.6m).

I expect Collision's audience to fall in the next few days, but it's started at such a high level that it should remain above 5m which would be good. The breakdown does indicate that it might be around 6-7m tonight.

Life and FlashForward both taking a knock, but Life should be fine due to the repeats which are rating fantastically. FlashForward's 2.3m is still good and I think the repeat numbers will be higher than normal this week.
I think ITV would be disappointed if Collision fell to 5m after that start. I see it staying around 6m as it only really faces tough BBC1 competition on Wednesday.

Of course, once again we discuss figures that are maybe not quite accurate due to STV opt-out

For me, though, the stand-out figure for the night is Miranda on BBC2. 2.5m must be the highest ratings for the first episode of a BBC2 sitcom in a long while - and against Coronation Street too (although the initial reaction on the DS forum suggests it'll soon be down to the usual BBC2 sitcom figure of about 1m). Some on this forum questioned this scheduling but looks like the BSI knew what he was doing.

To me, this should tell BBC1 that they shouldn't be afraid to put out sitcoms on Thursday at 8pm opposite Emmerdale.

Incidentally, due to Dr Who and BBC Switch Live, there's no repeat of Life on BBC1 (or BBC2) this weekend.

BBC1 and BBC2 comedies are a totally different kettle of fish though. And anyway folowing on from UC which gets over 3m is one of BBC2s best lead in slots of the week. WHy would BBC1 waste comedy against ED when they could put it out at Wednesday 7:30?

This is pencilled in for 10th Dec, with part two the following week.

ITV 1
Mr Eleven
Michelle Ryan, Sean Maguire and Adam Garcia star in a two-part comedy drama.

Also i don't think anyone has said yet, but a small increase for Live From Studio Five Well done

I think it's healthy for The Bill to take breaks throughout the year for I'm a Celebrity..., Britain's Got Talent and the like. I think it's off for a while now, isn't it? Will it make up the episodes later, because I'm sure I read 52 episodes were commissioned in the new format.

When does the BBC start airing its comedy double at 9pm rather than lazy repeats of New Tricks? I should think this will provide a more varied schedule which will benefit both channels.

Er, Eastenders lead-in.

It is true that Jimmy's Food Factory (Wed 7.30) has had bigger ratings than Watchdog (Thur 8.00) but that might have something to do with Watchdog having a rubbish new format.

The problem with Wednesday 7.30 is that ITV keep finding spare Corries to stick on at that time. Perhaps BBC1 should go
7.30 Waterloo Road
8.30 Comedy.
Maybe they will when Big Top starts soon.

At the end of the day BBC1 should have enough pre-watershed sitcoms to fill both the Wednesday and Thursday slots all year round and it's a that they haven't.

Collision did very well although the drop is worrying, I wonder if either Life or FlashForward picked up viewers even though both were down. Channel 4 did poorly with The Execution of Gary Glitter and Starter for Ten did alright. Miranda did very well and proves that the 8.30pm could be used for something other than cooking although I would to see Only Connect in that slot as a companion to UC, The Gadget Show continues to do well for Five too.

News like that makes me a happy man.

Seriously, Sky1's programming strategy makes me want to whack my head against a brick wall sometimes. They make money out of subscriptions - so why don't they ramp up some ambition to encourage subscription. I wouldn't care if their schedule was complete repeats apart from a couple of hours of quality stuff each night (British stuff to complement the US drama). I'd far prefer that than they scratch around for poxy ratings with this sort of trash and Michael Jackson seances.

When does the BBC start airing its comedy double at 9pm rather than lazy repeats of New Tricks? I should think this will provide a more varied schedule which will benefit both channels.
You'll be pleased to know that this weeks New Tricks repeat is the last for a good while.

Next week is a Children in Need concert from the Albert Hall, the next week, the comedy block begins.

Great numbers for Collision last night which used its Corrie lead-in a treat. Numbers like that are why we're living in fantasy world to suggest that ITV would move Corrie's back into the 7pm hour. It's far too valuable in giving a leg up to expensive new stuff.

Brace yourself people - ITV's Tuesday flopzone might just be defeated for one week only. Tougher for Collision over the next two days, but I'd still be pretty dissapointed if it didn't hit 6-6.5m.
