Leona has the new number one album, and the X Factor charity single is also number one.
SuBo's album is released tomorrow; next week's number one?

George I do hope that you are tuned into X Factor and not secretly gazing at Fiona Bruce on Antiques Roadshow ..............................and SUBO is not a star-she is a celebrity made famous by a stage managed half sung song and instant technology.

As regards reality where is all this REALITY that everyone talks about? The only reality show running at the moment is I'm A Celbrity? Big Brother is ending soon? What Other reality shows are out there? The BBC is doing a 6 day a week celebrity dancing competition but is THAT reality tv? ITV are doing a discover the next pop star show but I dont see 24/7 coverage of them from their digs? Am I missing some online stream?

ITV just did a 5 night stripped drama. This week & next they are stripping celebs After that there will be a mix of drama & documentaries.

I'm criticising it for being popular by producing cheap tacky sub-commercial output but it seems to be struggling to even sustain the popularity of that. When the BBC does something good that happens also to be popular (Life) I salute them. Now somebody will say "but the One Show is really good" pull the other one!”

SCD has exactly the same figures as last year I think. The X Factor is however going from strength to strength. It's new viewers I think. I do think maybe SCD should be moved to Channel 4 as they need it.

JEdward are gone, cue the ratings decline then.

Xtra Factor should do well tonight.

Not so sure of that. The peak last night was at 8.55 slightly higher than at 8.40 when Jedward performed. Anyway I think it was clear they couldnt cope with 2 songs next week so they had to go.

That would rule out anyone who ever entered a talent show then? thats a long list of names.........

X Factor's peak for tonight will be sky high.

I think we'll certainly some sort of decline next week. The Jedward hype is gone and now we're left with a bunch of nobodies who range from mediocre to 'not bad'.

I think the ratings for the X Factor will stay around the same - one single act doesn't make the entire show.

I disagree in this respect - the press have gone crazy over them and that has surely contributed to a certain extent. Minus them we're back to XF4 - and that series was dreadful.

Exactly. I doubt it'll drop much, and anyone who stops watching will be cancelled out by those who tune in again now they've gone. People say that ratings dropped when Chico left, but that was nothing to do with Chico, that was because of silly scheduling, and they wouldn't have dropped if they'd have scheduled it well.

Ratings won't drop next week because of the loss of Jedward, believe me.

I think we are close enough to the final to ensure that the ratings remain high. One more week of Jedward would have helped though.

It'll be because of the good weather we're expecting?

I'm not expecting a massive fall to be fair. But there's no reason to watch now IMO.

Just to clarify-when I mentioned reality, I was lumping together IAC and XF -and all of the other "journey" formats. What I was trying to put over was that ITV (irrespective of age range) is basically chasing a mass audience and doesnt have the same road closed signs as the BBC.For instance-Champions League Football and Millionaire and indeed anything that might get too popular. With regard to a younger audience-if it so important surely they would reduce the amount of soaps which Im assuming play to an older demographic?

A Lloyd eviction would have been better for ratings that's for sure. The public voting has certainly been weird this time around.

Anyway, with just 2 more shows before the final, J&E's job is done, they've been brilliant for the show.

But judging by their vocal tonight, they could never win. There will then at least be a credible performer that wins, unless it's Lloyd.

I wouldn't say it was that bad, compare:

XF4
Hope - dreadful
Niki Evans - poor and overrated
Same Difference - dreadful
Rhydian - very good
Leon - dreadful

XF6
Stacey - quite good
Lloyd - dreadful
Olly - poor singer, great performer, could do well
Danyl - good
Joe - excellent

And ratings rose throughout XF4. Anyway, I wonder if IAC will break 10m tonight - I think it might, and I think X Factor may break 15m.

Does anyone know how long the X Factor is next week with them singing two songs each. It was dull enough for 80 minutes, hopefully it's not much longer then.

Depends, a lot of viewers might have gone for Xtra Factor.

I completely disagree, odd considering I agree with most of your posts.

It's tradition that people start surprising you hard towards the end, remember Alexandra Burke with Listen last year - that was like week 8 (next week). It was also the week Ruth Lorenzo sang Always by Bon Jovi which was incredible, and JLS did You Light Up my Life.

Next week the competition will step up a huge notch and the quality will be very high. Ratings will not fall, there's not a chance. As for the finalists, while we're on the subject:

Lloyd - Weakest but does have potential with the right songs (Jason Mraz type tunes)

Joe - Incredible, has been consistent weekly and has more to give, am expecting some show stopping performances now

Stacey - as above, she's shown signs of true excellence and they always throw save the more perfect songs for them for the end

Danyl - he's not as great as Simon would like but recently he's started actually singing the songs, and has potential to do amazing performances ala his first audition, Purple Rain, last night's performance

Olly - another potentially good one, great dancer and entertainer and in the bottom 2 tonight proved he could belt out good notes

As far as I'm concerned it's just as strong as last year's final 5, and next week I think the competition truly will begin and song choices will be more spot on. Expect the second song for each to be perfect.

And as I said, ratings won't fall.

Tonight I expect a peak of 17-18 million and an average of 15m.

I decided to watch the Xtra Factor instead of IAC tonight although I will most definitely catch IAC (by tomorrow.)

XF4
Hope - awful
Niki Evans - good
Same Difference - oh dear...
Rhydian - very good/excellent
Leon - bad

XF6
Stacey - good
Joe - good/very good
Danyl - just dull (although he doesn't have a bad singing voice.)
Lloyd - awful
Olly - not a bad singer, but he needs to stop the silly dancing.

However compare this to last year:

XF5
Diana - a bit like marmite. People either loved her or hated her. I thought she was good her first few weeks but it just grew tiring.
Eoghan - bad although at least he could hold a tune!
JLS - very good/excellent
Alex - very good/excellent
Ruth - excellent

Last year was very good. This year, not so much..

Tonight is going to be a good night for ITV1 and also Five who scheduled Pocahontas and Spider-Man 3, I expect 2m+ for Pocahontas and 2.5-3m for Spider-Man 3 but their 9pm film will let them down.

I think they've lost Jedward a week earlier than they would have wanted but it should be near enough the final that they'll get away with it without too much of a loss (maybe 1m at most). I think their novelty value had really worn off. Last night they were dull.

They have a marmite contestant in Danyl. A good singer in Joe (who may be peaking at the right time). A romance and personalities with Olly and Stacey. They need to get rid of Lloyd next week.

Well I think we can be fairly certain that the same volcanic reception wasnt dished out to anyone whoever appeared on Opportunity Knocks or New Faces-even the winners found the hard work had just started. Most of the acts appearing had years of working in clubs behind them and getting public recognition even after all that was not easy. Seventies audiences would have thrown fruit at Jedward and most of the other acts I reckon.

The potential was there in the first place though. I loved Alex from the very beginning - she was always very good but vastly underrated by the judges. The opposite is true these year, with weak singers being given standing ovations every week.

Have to disagree again!

DS has cut off the first and last 5 minutes of yesterday's X Factor, giving it an average of 13.04m: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...-with-13m.html

Not sure why they cut them off, especially the first 5 mins as I'm sure it started at 20:01...

As for tonight, I think it'll be a 14.5-15.0m average with a peak of about 17m. I don't think next Saturday's X Factor will be down much from yesterday. Yesterday's show didn't even peak when Jedward were on and we're headnig into the business end of the competition. I think IAC will be around 9.5m but not as high as Saturday due to tougher competition.
