Notable Jedward are the number 1 trending topic on Twitter and The X Factor has 7 out of 10 trending topics.

I disagree in this respect - the press have gone crazy over them and that has surely contributed to a certain extent. Minus them we're back to XF4 - and that series was dreadful.

The potential was there in the first place though. I loved Alex from the very beginning - she was always very good but vastly underrated by the judges. The opposite is true these year, with weak singers being given standing ovations every week.
Have to disagree again! Maybe next week will be better for you, or maybe I'll be wrong!Either way, The X Factor is truly superb, nothing has got the country talking like this series really and those twins are a huge role in that. |

DS has cut off the first and last 5 minutes of yesterday's X Factor, giving it an average of 13.04m: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...-with-13m.html
Not sure why they cut them off, especially the first 5 mins as I'm sure it started at 20:01... As for tonight, I think it'll be a 14.5-15.0m average with a peak of about 17m. I don't think next Saturday's X Factor will be too down from yesterday. Yesterday's show didn't even peak when Jedward were on. I think IAC will be around 9.5m but not as high as Saturday due to tougher competition. I hope it cracks 10m.

The press are not the public. John and Edward may have hooked people in (I question whether they have myself), but we're at the business end of the show now and viewers are not going to desert the show as it heads to the climax.
![]() The ratings this year have been completely disproportionate to the quality of the series and talent IMO. It was last year's show that should have been getting 16m peaks. |

rzt if you can can you find out the power surge for tonight's XF?
I am very excited for tomorrow morning. The peak will be 17-19m IMO, considering it was 16.6m last week and Jedward weren't even in the bottom 2! |

That's fair enough Agent F, we are of course all entitled to our opinions and that's what makes forums great

I completely disagree, odd considering I agree with most of your posts.
It's tradition that people start surprising you hard towards the end, remember Alexandra Burke with Listen last year - that was like week 8 (next week). It was also the week Ruth Lorenzo sang Always by Bon Jovi which was incredible, and JLS did You Light Up my Life. Next week the competition will step up a huge notch and the quality will be very high. Ratings will not fall, there's not a chance. As for the finalists, while we're on the subject: Lloyd - Weakest but does have potential with the right songs (Jason Mraz type tunes) Joe - Incredible, has been consistent weekly and has more to give, am expecting some show stopping performances now Stacey - as above, she's shown signs of true excellence and they always throw save the more perfect songs for them for the end Danyl - he's not as great as Simon would like but recently he's started actually singing the songs, and has potential to do amazing performances ala his first audition, Purple Rain, last night's performance Olly - another potentially good one, great dancer and entertainer and in the bottom 2 tonight proved he could belt out good notes As far as I'm concerned it's just as strong as last year's final 5, and next week I think the competition truly will begin and song choices will be more spot on. Expect the second song for each to be perfect. And as I said, ratings won't fall. Tonight I expect a peak of 17-18 million and an average of 15m. |

I'm not suggesting a massive fall but a small decline.

sun 08 nov- 923mW ... 16.6m peak sun 15 nov- 702mW ... 16.4m peak sun 22 nov- 829mW ... TBA Tonight's power surge is smaller than it should have been because the show finished slightly earlier than usual (20:56) as there was no deadlock. So taking that into account, it should be around 16.6m or higher. |

Power surge tonight was 829mW, which is the second highest of the series. Last three weeks:

I would be fascinated to know how you know these surges so quickly?
Scroll down to "Rolling System Demands" and work out the rise between 20:55-21:05. Usually the rise is only between 21:00-21:05, but it was a 10 min surge tonight which probably suggests a bigger peak than before. It should be noted that sometimes the surges and ratings don't match up, there's various other factors to take into account! |

Saturday 21st November 2009
The Usual Suspects: The X Factor suddenly increased after plateauing last week. I didn't expect that if I'm completely honest. Strictly Come Dancing dipped slightly, maybe because of the increase in competition from ITV1. Harry Hill's TV Burp did excellently. I'm A Celebrity... has recovered after a shaky Tuesday and Wednesday by doing respectably against both the Children in Need programmes, and now building on that with The X Factor lead in. The Filler: A real shame for the Impressions Show, dipping to below 4m and being defeated by Hole in the Wall (albeit on the same channel ). Bar the Bruce/Vernon/Tess sketch I thought last night's show was great. Casualty is doing ok and will increase again once The X Factor is done with. National Lottery Draws are being used as filler for now.Star Wars filled the start of the evening ok on ITV,a nd You've Been Framed also got respectable ratings. The News: I'm A Celebrity...often provided an excellent lead in for the News on ITV1, and hit BBC1 at the same time. However, in the past ITV1 have been unable to hold onto this new found audience and I cannot see it changing. The Surprise Success: Channel 4 finally find 1m+ programmes on the toughest night of the week, with Come Dine With Me holding up throughout the evening. Five's American crime drama also bought in a good audience. The Big Disappointment: Probably, as I mentioned earlier, The Impressions Show dipping when it was a good programme last night IMO. |

I didn't expect the IACGMOOH evictions to start so soon, it's usually the middle of the 2nd week isn't it?

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s....php?t=1168004 --> will this affect overnights a little? Regarding The X Factor and Celebrity, I think series highs for both tonight, particularly the former. |

I don't think next Saturday's X Factor will be down much from yesterday. Yesterday's show didn't even peak when Jedward were on and we're headnig into the business end of the competition.
![]() Naturally the peak occurred towards the end, where Jedward have performed for much of the series. They went out much earlier than usual this week so although the peak came later it doesn't necessarily mean their appeal isn't contributing to the big ratings. I'm definitely expecting a drop next week. What's the big story of the series now? There isn't one. Will have to wait and see what Cowell can conjure up between now and Saturday to try and keep that interest, but it will be a struggle... |

Well how exactly are people supposed to know when Jedward are going to be on? Are X Factor's 14m strong audience mindreaders as well now?

Lloyd has already seemlessly moved into Jedward's role of 'how can an act so bad last so long'. Joe's got to move up from musical star to pop star, Olly has to refind his popularity after being in the bottom 2 this week and Stacey's personality is endearing to many. The series will survive this. Yet again, a masterpiece of Cowell spin - losing the twins at the right time. |

They've already come up with the next story - the ongoing 'issues' between Danyl and Simon.

The rumour in the other forum is that Katie Price has left the jungle.
That's Jedward and Jordan in one weekend
