The press are not the public. John and Edward may have hooked people in (I question whether they have myself), but we're at the business end of the show now and viewers are not going to desert the show as it heads to the climax.

Maybe next week will be better for you, or maybe I'll be wrong!Either way, The X Factor is truly superb, nothing has got the country talking like this series really and those twins are a huge role in that.

I'm not suggesting a massive fall but a small decline.
The ratings this year have been completely disproportionate to the quality of the series and talent IMO. It was last year's show that should have been getting 16m peaks.
rzt if you can can you find out the power surge for tonight's XF?
I am very excited for tomorrow morning. The peak will be 17-19m IMO, considering it was 16.6m last week and Jedward weren't even in the bottom 2!

Your probably right because there is a mania about-but the thing about Jedward is that they couldnt sing much better than anyone in a Karaoke booth, and Im sure people have been tuning in thinking they could win and to see how SC reacted to the growing prospect of having to market them.

Scroll down to "Rolling System Demands" and work out the rise between 20:55-21:05. Usually the rise is only between 21:00-21:05, but it was a 10 min surge tonight which probably suggests a bigger peak than before.
It should be noted that sometimes the surges and ratings don't match up, there's various other factors to take into account!

The Usual Suspects: The X Factor suddenly increased after plateauing last week. I didn't expect that if I'm completely honest. Strictly Come Dancing dipped slightly, maybe because of the increase in competition from ITV1. Harry Hill's TV Burp did excellently. I'm A Celebrity... has recovered after a shaky Tuesday and Wednesday by doing respectably against both the Children in Need programmes, and now building on that with The X Factor lead in.
The Filler: A real shame for the Impressions Show, dipping to below 4m and being defeated by Hole in the Wall (albeit on the same channel). Bar the Bruce/Vernon/Tess sketch I thought last night's show was great. Casualty is doing ok and will increase again once The X Factor is done with. National Lottery Draws are being used as filler for now.
Star Wars filled the start of the evening ok on ITV,a nd You've Been Framed also got respectable ratings.
The News: I'm A Celebrity...often provided an excellent lead in for the News on ITV1, and hit BBC1 at the same time. However, in the past ITV1 have been unable to hold onto this new found audience and I cannot see it changing.
The Surprise Success: Channel 4 finally find 1m+ programmes on the toughest night of the week, with Come Dine With Me holding up throughout the evening. Five's American crime drama also bought in a good audience.
The Big Disappointment: Probably, as I mentioned earlier, The Impressions Show dipping when it was a good programme last night IMO.

I'm not so sure now the South Coast have lost their signal. Maybe everything will be slightly down because of it? I'm sure ITV are delighted that this has happened on one of their financially biggest nights of the year.

They've already come up with the next story - the ongoing 'issues' between Danyl and Simon.
Lloyd has already seemlessly moved into Jedward's role of 'how can an act so bad last so long'.
Joe's got to move up from musical star to pop star, Olly has to refind his popularity after being in the bottom 2 this week and Stacey's personality is endearing to many.
The series will survive this. Yet again, a masterpiece of Cowell spin - losing the twins at the right time.

The series will of course survive. With only three weeks left it's not going to suffer too much. I agree with Dancc though that the big story of the series is gone now. They were to X Factor what John Seargant was to Strictly last year (which has been bereft of a similar story to get the press talking this time round).
