6 Taio Cruz 31053
7 Black Eyed Peas 29463
8 Jay-Z / Alicia Keys 28201
9 Michael Buble 27741
10 Young Soul Rebels 26134

Albums

1 Alexandra Burke 132065
2 Michael Buble 78005
3 Whitney Houston 51632
4 Seasick Steve 21770
5 Paolo Nutini 19574
6 Fleetwood Mac 18763

So Cheryl will hang on definitely till JLS!

Alex's sales are OK, not great, but it's a poor sales climate atm, and it's an uptempo single to sell the album. Sales should build in the run up to Xmas, expect it to sell about 600-800k by then!

Whitney sold fairly well

Alex has done really well. Very different from Leona so you couldn't really expect her to sell anymore

Really wanna know how chezza is gonna do.

Funny how the OP is all didn't you say Cheryl wouldn't sell more than Alex did in her first week

JLS will probably sell more still after their X Factor performance. I just hope Leona does as well. Then of course there is this X Factor single as well and then the winners single! madness

Oh and of course the Boyle.

Yep, hehe!

The nation's sweetheart did it, through her hype! She's just too popular at the moment!

They haven't left the top 10 since Boom Boom Pow debuted in April! And then when I Gotta Feeling leaves the top ten (maybe in three weeks), Meet Me Halfway will have cracked the top 10 as well and will be there for ages as well!

Dangerous place for her to be. Once this bubble of hype bursts I wouldn't want to be Cheryl. Its going to be a bigger fall from grace than Jade's race row was for her.

Well tbh, to be here in 4 yrs, Alex would only need to release 2 more albums, not difficult tbh!

What a pity the X Factor are ruining are charts again. That's not to say I don't think Cheryl Cole and Alexandra Burke etc aren't talented, but I don't think they deserve the #1 spots every time they release a song. Robbie Williams is far more deserving of a #1 spot imo. I don't mind one X Factor fuelled success, but song after song after song, manufactured artists after another (JLS then Alex Burke, next Laura White, next Austin Drag) just gets monotonous and tedious...

I hope you're right, but the X Factor success story will run out of steam one day (I hope it will anyway!!).

Plus surely the reason she had the biggest selling debut single was because it was the most popular series so far? Just a guess. I wasn't aware she was signed in the US but do know that you have to be pretty darn good to make it over there, which is why really Leona Lewis is the only XF-er to be popular there. Though no doubt her Flo Rida collaberation will get her some following.

I like Leona Lewis, I thought she was and is something really different as an artist. I don't understand the hype around Alexandra Burke though....correct me by all means but I don't see how she's unique or that amazing, she just seems to me to be another "star" being propelled into the spotlight thanks to this programme.

They have had massive success that is for sure!
Any I expect it got to #1 because it's popular there too, probably had loads of airplay too. It's different to their previous stuff and is quite a cool song imo, I like it.

Tim, I vary with you, whether you're just overdramatic or insane?! No.1 their singles have done around the world cos they are popular. When songs are released on iTunes, most countries actually have the same taste and you find the same big hits doing the business in most regions tbh! MMH is doing so well cos it is catchy, people like it and the video is EPIC *pure love and devotion to it* xxx

Then really why comment on her, if you don't know the facts?!

Of course it is hard, but when you have the right people pushing radio to play your music, and it's pretty much a given Alex will be appearing on American Idol thanks to Simon and other shows, Clive even wants her to perform at his pre-Grammy party , she will have some success...probably not as much as Leona, but enough to keep her record company sweet!

To be fair, not many UK artists, especially X Factor type, are signed in the US, and it's hardly common knowledge unless you are a big fan...

No doubt she has done well for herself. And with the backing she's going to get that you detailed she certainly will do well.

It was all over the papers in February, and all over the net! Anyone who follows Xfactor properly wouldnt have known!

What loads of people wouldnt know is the other deals she has like with Dolce and Gabbana!
