I thought it was because he was never expected to be in the bottom 2, so didn't have another song prepared.

the only thing that narked me about danyl's survival song was the performance, it was identical to his audition, right down to the microphone thing and sitting on the edge of the stage at the same part, had he done the performance differently, it would've been better

Plus, all the acts prepare a survival song with the vocal coaches every week, don't they?

I think Rachel also did one of her audition songs in a sing-off. It probably makes sense to do something you know really well in that situation.

i don't see the problem either, but we must remember which act we are talking about.

with most FM this year, there's one set of rules for danyl and one set of rules for everyone else.

and to cockneykid and soul troll - every act choose and rehearse a 'bottom two' song each week.

i didt mind he did it again the only think that annoyed me was that the performance was exactly the same which takes away from what i thought was him buzzing off the audience rather than preparing the leeping.....

I don't want to start, or enter into, arguments here, but I thought that singing like that was his original approach. And performing those notes as well as he did under the pressure of a potential exit from the show moments later is surely something pretty impressive?

I'm sure he knew he was safe.

I imagine he's rehearsed that more times than you and I have had hot dinners. I don't really think it's all that impressive.

Ruth doing Purple Rain? Now THAT was impressive.

He didn't just do the same song but the same cheesy arrangement too. But it is the song that made Simon and the public love him so of course he'd do it.
Hope none of the other contestants do their audition song if they end up in the bottom 2. Much as I loved Lucie's IWALY if she ever ends up in the bottom 2, hopefully not, I'd rather hear her do a song I haven't heard her do.
