I think it was quite a funny joke since Ant and Dec are so ubiquitous on Saturday evenins, but only on ITV!
It fell a bit flat and Tess was not amused!

It appealed to my sense of humour but unfortunately Tess didn't 'get it' so it fell flat. Its because they are on so much Saturday and reality TV.

I think that it was a reference to "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here" which would be starting sometime in November I guess. Ricky was implying that he would have to audition to be one of the celebs in the jungle (presumably he would have nothing else to do going up to Christmas). Tess should have at least "got" the joke.

Perhaps she thought RG was suggesting they replace her and Bruce

I think that was the joke too.

He was pretending he was coming out of the jungle (i.e. dancing and then facing the judges) to be met by Ant and Dec as if he was taking part in "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here".

Dreadful joke.

The look on the face of dead-behind-the-eyes-Tess was pure venom and therfore very funny.

I think it was a reference to Britains Got Talent as in he did his best Ballroom !!!! it fell flat with Ms Daly.

I thought it was really well delivered but no-one else seemed to get it... the look on Tess's face was priceless though

According to the papers today, Ant and Dec were there, but weren't shown on camera. I guess Ricky's reference to them might have made more sense to us viewers if we'd known they were in the audience.

Ant's wife Lisa is the head make up person on the show and so it would be no surprise that Ant would be there but not in view as they are handcuffed to itv

This appears to be the Rorschach Test of Strictly jokes.

Perhaps Ricky wanted Ant & Dec around to "arrange" the phone voting?

My suggestion is that Rikki had a bet with Ant and Dec that he couldn't work in a mention of them on the show.

No, I still don't get it either. Any joke that requires explanation, and then produces several explanations, none of which are very funny, is a poor joke indeed. A bizarre moment.
