Cheating - why was Jamie allowed to sing a song of his choice
Rather than a big band song like all of the other contestants? Why is this ok??? And I say his choice because clearly that is exactly the style of song that Jamie sings and Simon knows that. I feel he got votes based on his performance that he would otherwise have not got. If Simon is that worried that Jamie cannot do songs in other genres then clearly the guy is not cut out to be on the X factor show. Simon has said many times a winner cant just stick to one genre i.e ballads, rock etc. The others have had bad weeks because they have had to sing songs which are not their style so why should Jamie get out of it and be able to sing a rock song instead of big band!???? Its blatant cheating

It didn't work out for him. The original big band song he learned was an Elvis song apparently. I would love to know which one.
Big Band week is always my favourite week and we were a bit cheated by Jamie's U2 song even if it did have a horn section in it. The rapping in the Miss Frank song annoyed me more. |

I disagree, i reckon Jamie was quite near the bottom this week. His performance wasn't even that great. He probably lost votes due to not singing a big band song.
And if you're going to criticise his song choice then what about Jedward, She bangs? Big Band? |

Why blame Jamie he did not choose the song.
He was great and he did a great job with the song. |

![]() Jamie had practised the Big Band song all week, Simon changed it. Half the others weren't traditional big band numbers. Michael Buble said Jamie's song was treated as a big band song. Cheating? Nah! Why bother writing all that when you really do know that it's not true? |

Rachel's song was not big band
Stacey's song was not big band J&E's song was not big band Simon was the one who forced through a change of song - and selected the U2 number This was not Jamie's choice They all sung with the backing of a live band - that is what Big Band week is about enough of the whining about this |

I though it was hypocritical of louis to have a go at Simon about Jamie, and then the crap twins to sing a Ricky Martin song!

He was not alone in not singing "Big Band" numbers, Rachel's whose performance I thought was great was not big band, nor was Stacy or John and Edward. So if we are playing the rules card the only person who stuck to them was Cheryl

there was quite a few who didnt sing big band numbers so Jamie did not cheat at all... plus he sings what he is told to.. so the argument is with the mentors cheating not the contestants... and as he sang with a big band and sounded great just like the others who didnt have a big band song..exceptiion being the twins..who were dire as usual.. i cant see what the problem is... give leona lewis a song and she will make it fit to her own style of singing ..jamies style is rock so matter what week it is, its always gonna sound like a rock song..thats him making it his own like they are all told to do... i like him and im glad he is still in it...

They were much more big band style than the other acts with the exception of J&E but I dont even count them Quote:

I know! I'm really suprised that Simon didn't respond to Louis's crowing with that - especially on the results show when he said that they should be "retro" songs

Not all Big Band is with a swing rhythm. I thought the challenge was quite good. The singers had to make themselves heard over a live 35 piece band. Many of them were drowned out at times.
In my opinion Olly did the best on Saturday night. |

as far as i'm concerned, if youre performing a song with a big band, then its a big band song. if it ends up sounding wrong or inappropriate then that will be reflected in the votes.

Simon is the one who changed the song.
Jamie didn't want to change it one day before the show, especially as he didn't know the song. Simon insisted and Jamie didn't have a choice in the matter. |
