I have to be honest, I really could not stand the guy because I thought he was cocky and had an over inflated ego. However, after the lynch mob out in their dozens proclaiming their hatred for a contestant makes me wonder if they don't like him because it all comes so easy to him. I have noticed that he is being picked on over every little thilng. There are so many anti-Danyl threads.
Some posters here have even made some very uncalled for personal remarks. I just hope the poor guy does not read this forum.

I don't recall him ever saying he was the best. It was Simon. Should a good performer be penalised for their mentors smugness?

I am actually beginning to like him as I really do believe he is very good. I hope he stays in the competition for a long time.

I did ask if he was trying to catch a BEA, but it was done in a jokey way.

I don't mind if he wants to pance around the stage like he's got a cock up his bum.

I think Cowell will move heaven and earth to try and ensure Danyl stays in - well for the next couple of weeks anyway.

It would be too humiliating for Cowell's pet to be ditched this early!

I think you've answered your own question there in your first sentence.....

He is cocky and has an over inflated ego - the producers/Simon/Danyl are trying to make him appear more humble but it's an act!

Then there's the stories in the papers. I tend to believe there is no smoke without fire so I wouldnt be surprised if there is truth in them.

I don't hate him, I don't hate anyone I don't know. I don't like him as a singer/performer and so don't see what all the fuss is about, I don't know him personally so beyond that I cannot comment.

However, I do hate that here and on the show its like he is seen as the 'star' or the one to beat.

Obviously, thats not his fault though.

Its ok, i dont get it either. My mate says shes only started watching xfactor because of danyl's voice. But then, she doesnt read stories or hyping or rumours. She likes him because he sings like a professional singer.

And I have to agree - to think he can do what he does without ever having had any coaching or singing lessons... its gobsmacking really.

Danyl is a good singer, no question about it.

Unfortunately, whether it's him or Simon, you get the vibe that he thinks he's a great (I was going to say "god") singer. He needs to come down a peg or two, reconnect with the people on the end of the phone and stop being so cocky.

I find the human race, or should that be the Great British Public, really vicious and vile about this poor guy. What is their problem, Do they just need a hate figure to vent at? Says a lot about GBP, eh?

I don't really care who wins, but I like hearing him sing. He has a great voice. I think he's handled things in an awkward way, but this kind of TV show does weird things to people. You get caught up in a very odd world and it's not surprising if not everyone can handle it. I work in media and it's not easy to stay grounded.

But to vilify a perfect stranger because of who or what you think he is, is madness. It's also cruel and pointless.

People should be ashamed of themselves.

No worries I don't believe he bullied anyone. I think people make a mountain out of a mole hill. I cant understand why people should make OTT personal comments.

This is why a lot of people don't like him:

"The insider added: "He looked like a broken man when he came off stage - absolutely destroyed. He was stunned to be in the bottom two, he thought he was the best thing on the show.""

Thinking you are the best thing on the show when you're nothing more than a school teacher who got lucky? Whether he really has that opinion of himself or not is a different matter, but people won't vote for someone who has an ego bigger than Simon's no matter how good he is.

I don't get it either. Seems a nice bloke. My guess is ok, first audition. great. then at bootcamp i think when he overdid the song, alot of people were disappointed. whereas at first audition he blew everyone away and it seemed so natural and fun and everybody kind of expected him to always be that way but then seeing him trying way too hard and being ott and overdoing it at bootcamp and judges houses. overthinking, another side of him was seen. People got an impression maybe he tried too hard, was showing off etc. But he is a great singer. natural performer. And the hatred for his personality is really mean. The amount of flak he got off the other 3 judges in week 1 was despicable. The comments implied he was cocksure, overconfident, sure he was going to win. And i think the public were influenced by these comments. RE: his personality, on all the vts he seems normal, nice, funny and friendly. It is so annoying and horrible all the real hatred towards him

And i think he is embarrassed by being overhyped. Regards the results last night, he looked genuinly sad that Miss Frank were leaving. I did not get the impression he was sad for himself as much as for them. He seems humble to me. He may have been told he is the best thing on the show but i dont think he thinks that. And he didnt go around moaning and crying like rachel did when she was in the bottom 2. And on xtra factor he was humble about it - i dont know where people are getting their impressions from.

He's not a good singer - none of them are really. His lack of charm is his main problem.

Stevie50001,

Who are you trying to fool? how do you know that is Danyl's honesty and humility is an ACT?

Stories in papers, you know that every week the "gutter press" spend millions in courts with Libel Cases, knowing that it is worth it because "tickle tackle" sadly sells papers and they just then pay out Libel Fees to whoever.

I like Five of the contestants left in X Factor, but I would not go around knocking the others especially in a "lynch mob" attitude as we seem to have got here, it is getting as bad as Big Brother DS!

We never will all agree who is our personal favourite, but there is no need at all to go making personal attacks on anyone!

Yes, but once again its "the insider says" not "Danyl says".
Thats the point I keep trying to make.

I think that this insider should either shut up or get on camera and say it.

Kandy Rain did, I don't like what they said, but at least they had the guts to say it themselves and not hide.

Miss Frank says he wasnt bullying or arrogant. They again have said it themselves. But all the people who believe the smear will assume they have been told to say it.

Its the double standards that annoy me.

It does put me in mind of the Salem Witch trials. Rumour has it that Danyl is cocky and arrogant but I've yet to see actual evidence of it

Also they all live in the X-factor house, how do we know what goes on there. For all we know the others could be ganging up on him. TBH I have never heard him say that he was the best thing till sliced bread. Ofcourse he came away a broken man, because he knew that public had put him on trial and found him guilty without any evidence but hearsay. Yes, it would be better if Simon did not go over the top in praise of Danyl.

I think we all get the point you are trying to make, and while I, and many others, will say that we won't let the tabloid stories influence our voting - many people will be inluenced by it and reuse to vote for him.

Sometimes I think people don't appreciate the power of the press, whose allegiance with politcal parties can help win an election. If they can sway the public with something so important, they can certainly do the same with a reality show.

Yep - it is odd that isn't it.

Or is it because he shows confidence whilst performing? I didn't think that was a bad thing........

Oh, I forgot that acts have to have this humble, 'not knowing how good they actually are' persona to succeed on the XFactor.

I don't hate him at all. I am not a fan of his voice and how he sings, and I just feel indifferent to him. I don't know what it is he needs to do to be honest, to make me change my mind. But he hasn't caught my interest or imagination at all. I feel bad in a way because out of all them, he is the one that I am the least interested in or want to watch and it's not fair really. Usually they all have bits about them that I think are ok. I do feel like if I was in a room of people with him, he would be the one I avoided, and I just cannot explain why.

I think you need to read the title of this thread again.

'why the Danyl hate?'

I am merely expressing my opinion on why he is disliked by so many.

The truth of my comments is irrelevant.

He *thought*? So, he is being judged for what was actually the 'insider's thoughts seeing a Danyl never verbalised those thoughts at all?
