So people could donate for Children in Need, but they can't 'donate' via voting through Strictly, hence it was axed.

Time for a change get rid of them BOTH . Tess Daly makes me cringe when she talks , Bruce is just past his sell by date I won't miss either of them .

"A bit bored" would be putting it mildly. Bruce's jokes are older than he is. Let's face it, they were old when the Old Testament was new. They are also predictable and very badly delivered. Tess suffers from the fact that Bruce is so OTT.

Could anyone who has been on a live show please tell me this: Is everyone in the audience under instruction to laugh at Bruce's jokes, cheer him and generally get behind him at all times? I know this sort of thing has happened on other shows in the past - I've been there - and it's the only way I can account for the reception the doddering old buffer (yes, that's two 'f's, not the letter to the right of 'f' on the keyboard - however much I wish it were) gets each week.

Blimey! At first I thought you were saying Bruce was a national treasure. Well, he does look as though he's been dug up a few times.

I agree, I don't get to watch Strictly "live" and find i enjoy it far better when sky-plussed so that i can skip the bruce "joke" slots , and I've even started to skip some of the "over-to-you-Tess" bits as well recently it looks like there is an air of inevitability about the "end" of bruce, whether tess will go as well remains to be seen. I suppose it will depend on who the beeb has lined-up to replace bruce and how they screen-test together.

Every variety show on every channel usually has "a warm up man."

Every audience on every show is encouraged to laugh and clap (on X-factor they even try to induce some "screamin' abdabs" convulsions).
You've accepted it happens on other shows, but you are criticising Bruce for getting the same sort of support.
Why should this show be any different?

My suggestion is that Steve Wright should do it, he has a great knowledge of things to do with music, his jokes are just as bad as Brucie's, and the Old Woman could do the after dance interviews.

On the contrary, I am criticising the show culture which encourages the audience to get behind the "warm-up" man in such a manner. A good "warm-up" man or woman doesn't need it. If Bruce does then it speaks volumes for the choice made by the BBC for this show.

You may be right to use the word "usually" but not all shows have them or need them - again, I've been in audiences which did not need them at all.

But to return to your question about "warm up acts"

A D/S contributor mentions Dale Winton as the warm up act on the Strictly show they saw last year, wasn't hard to find.

So yes, as I suggested, Strictly has a warm up act like most "shows," though I doubt that University Challenge, or Mastermind do.

I have always been a fan of Bruce but have to agree that I think he is past his sell by date. This year it is obvious it is time for him to go.

As for Tess I like her and think she does a good job at what she is supposed to do. Think she has to carry Bruce quite a bit now as well.

Tess is just hung out to dry on a regularly so anything she does, wears or says is wrong!!

Think she will do well with a new presenter and obviously the BBC are very happy with her as she is on a new 2 year contract.

I have to agree with all the Tess bashers out there. No personality about her at all. The moment there's a sniff of an unscripted moment, the look in her eyes is that of a meerkat being chased by a starving but surprisingly agile rhinoceros.

Bruce on the other hand, I like. I know his jokes are rubbish, I know he's a little bit cringeworthy to watch at times but there's a pleasant feeling of nostalgia about him which in my opinion, makes up for a multitude of minor sins.

To be fair, Tess is just Bruce's "straight man" for much of the time. However her solo efforts are just reading from the auto-cue, so I don't think she's a particularly gifted presenter.

But she's what The BBC wants, an attractive dolly-bird who; "can read her lines and doesn't bump in to the furniture."
But it's the "on off" northern vowels which makes me find her irritating.

With Bruce it goes well beyond boredom to near-dislike.
Tess? She's just not worth wasting time discussing.

I am getting bored by Claudia. I know this is heresy but couldn't we have a few guest presenters for a change? Or let her have a holiday here and there.

Honestly, can you blame her as, in front of 9m people each week, she waits for Bruce's latest gem to spill from his mouth to a silently gobsmacked audience - which'd then require her to attempt a patch up job.

I think Tess is a pretty good presenter, and she gets undue criticism simply for fulfilling her role within Strictly. I think she's capable of more, she's just not able to show this. My argument for that is how she presented Just the Two of Us - I thought more of her personality shone out there.

If that's the case it'd be the only thing that did in that series.

I don't like Bruce much anymore, the way he had a go at Craig the other week was unforgivable imo. I've never found him remotely amusing either.
I don't really like or dislike Tess much, I don't think that she adds or takes away anything from the show. LOVE her husband.
Claudia is a legend though !! But I quite like the fact she watches the show at home most weeks like the public...she's just like any other Strictly Superfan So I wouldn't want her to present the actual show.

Bruce is starting to get tedious this year, and his outburts at Craig the other week for his comment to Jo was very hypocritical after his Rolling Stones comment the previous week .

Tess? Hmmm. Never really been that fond of her but then again never seems to do anything to memorable to dislike her enough to want her gone.
