NEC e-616 on 3
Lots of people have been anxiously waiting for this clamshell replacement for the flawed e606. It should be in the shops now and available with all the usual 3 incentives.
Before investing in a NEC e616 it would be worthwhile reading the comments made by buyers in Australia where it has been available now for a couple of weeks. Some of the issues they highlight have also surfaced in Hong Kong where this handset has been on sale since January. It may be that the UK version of the phone has had some software upgrade before being released but previous NEC/3 form raises concerns that shifting boxes and solving problems later may be the order of the day.....as it seems to be in Australia. apparently is only has something like 44 hours standby time :S . which seems really appalling, even worse than the sammy a500 (i think thats what it's called, the first one with dual caller display).

Seems like the same problems the aussies are having are appearing with both the NEC 313 + 616 in the UK. Posts on various UK forums confirm that handsets are re-booting themselves for no apparent reason.....some rumours of software upgrades (so soon???).
A lot of folks are saying that 3 + NEC would'nt mess up again but it's not looking too good with the first feedback results. We shall see. |

I wish NEC would get thier acts together.
The thing with short battery life is because unlike a normal 3g service, with 3g its always with an active connection and doing lots of sending and receiving so the phone is always busy(somthing along those lines )
