Ruth Lorenzo sang Knocking On Heavens Door, ok it's not a GNR song, rather a Bob Dylan cover, but still

Oh, and she absolutely nailed it

i was thinking of what jamie could sing, and one of the songs i came up with was 'you shook me all night long' by ac/dc, but perhaps that's just my subconcious...

Someone is bound to cover Aerosmiths Don't want To Miss a Thing - maybe Danyl.

I hope they cover Alt Rock like Radiohead, Muse, Kings of Leon etc. and not just straight heavy.

All depends on how it's performed. It would definitely suit his voice, but if he messes about with it too much (like pretty much every other song he's ever sung) it might not go down too well!

Danyl: Jailhouse Rock (Elvis Presley)
Jamie: Bat Out Of Hell (Meatloaf)
Olly: Livin' On A Prayer (Bon Jovi)

Lucie: The Show Must Go On (Queen)
Rachel: Sweet Child O' Mine (Guns N Roses)
Stacey: Purple Rain (Prince)

Joe: Desperado (Eagles)
Lloyd: Tears in Heaven (Eric Clapton)

John and Edward: Vertigo (U2)

The mentors have it tough, don't they? That was so hard to choose.

EDIT: Just noticed that Guns N Roses don't permit their songs to be used. Ok, then...

Rachel: Brown Sugar (Rolling Stones)

Joe.. no think something more rock than Oasis to be honest with you, and Stacey needs UPTEMPO dance song to see if she can move from ONE spot...

Jamie Living On Prayer.. cop out make him do another BJ number Like...... Have a Nice Day.. or One Last Cigarette... Lost Highway..

i would love jamie to do some jimi hendrix.

but maybe they'll only use really well known songs/artists so they don't alienate the younger viewers?

well at least Walk this Way is spoken almost and not sung ... that would be good.

Stacey and BONNIE.. not sure the judges would not slaughter her attempt at it afterwards though, but she needs to MOVE off the spot she is becoming totally boring now which is sad as I really liked her to begin with, now I am like OH god another stand still do nothing performance, and they slate Danyl.. .... for moving..

Are you daring to say Jimi Hendrix is NOT well know.. shame on you even my 15 year old son knows who he is and what songs he sang, oddly even more than I do and I grew up with the man...

Lloyd and Joe are tough. I can see one of them doing "Chasing Cars", they really don't have the voices for rock. Oasis and Coldplay are good bets for them as well.

There's always the chance of "Wild Horses" showing up now that Susan Boyle is covering it.

I'm pretty sure Danyl is going to go for something like "Desperado" (The Eagles). It'll be really toned down this week. Though I'm not convinced that he has the voice to pull it off.”

'Desperado' is not really a rock song though is it. I have all of their work and I would not consider them to be a rock band really.

I absolutely love 'Hotel Califormia' I remember when they first sang it. wow

"shame on me"? calm down

i did say "with the younger viewers", eg. children. i made a generalisation, i didn't say i thought absolutely everyone still in their teens would have no idea who he is.

working from the knowledge i have of the pupils of my local school, i would imagine they could make an educated guess upon seeing a photo of him, but i don't think they could name any of his songs.

i can only apologise for not factoring in your son, only i don't know him so it would be pretty extraordinary if i had.

Could Joe pull off Rock the Casbah or Should I stay or should I go

Or what about Final Countdown or Eye of the Tiger

I struggle to think any of them doing rock except the obvious Jamie Affro.

But would pay money to see the twins do Steppenwolf Born to be Wild......on motor cycles........lol.

Or they should do White Wedding....that would be creepy..

Cowell would veto that on the grounds his acts wouldn't be talked about

This could be THE most singularly absurd and vomit-inducing programme ever inflicted on the British public in the history of broadcasting.

Ten acts of varying states of mediocrity, performing songs chosen by four individuals whose knowledge of rock music extends to absolute zero

One of the main problems with this forum is that we keep getting the same old topics raised again & again.

Does no-one read past the first page? This is about the 10th thread on there being a rock week, and what songs should the contestants sing.

Well you say that, but The Eagles would never say they were POP either and nor would I and having seen them live in the 1970s I would say rock, soft rock but rock none the less. Some of their songs are more into a rock mould as well.

OHHH now the twins arrive on stage on motorbikes, you know I can see that.. that would be excellent, what a great idea.. you phoned Brian or shall I, mind you he will get fed up of my phone calls soon!

Misslibertine, I was joking. but Jimi for some is what rock was about in an age back then, his death probably hyped it even more, like Kurt Corbains did.. does not mean they were not good artists, bit too ROCK for me at points but I can listen to some of it. Purple Haze I would think most teenagers have heard of.

Joe and the Clash I do hope NOT.. sorry..

Joe needs to do contempary rock.. not too hard metal, not some ballad.. Pinball Wizard maybe..just to show he can do something totally different..
