Would Cowell end the show if J & E won?
I still find it diffcult to believe that they are topping the votes.
However if they were to win I would imagine his credability would be at end and despite the show being more succesful than ever I could see him pullinfg the plug. |

I think he would as well, it would make X Factor one big joke if they won. Then if he does axe XF watch people go up in arms about it (probably the same people who will vote for the two horrors to win.)

They may be rubbish but are not the worst.
IMO Danyl, Lloyd and Stacey are worse |

If they do win, then the voting public will have killed off the format
There is no point in having a programme based around talent where the winners have no ability as singers or dancers. Those who believe that they are entertaining are almost beyond belief. There is a form of schadenfreude in seeing people make fools of themselves. But, as with JS on Strictly last year, there comes a point when enough is enough. I reached that point with these two at boot camp. I know it has been manufactured to generate press - and therefore public interest. However there is a time in everyone's life when they have to grow up. And those people who are voting for the twins as some sort of joke or to spite Simon Cowell need to do so. (I know this will get lots of derision and scorn - but they are enthusiastic young lads who cannot sing and who have very little dance ability - they wouldn't win a talent show at Butlins, let alone a £1 million recording contract) |

I don't think he would end the show - just think how much money he might not make if X factor did not run full time.

Maybe he would cry for the first time ever on national TV?

I don't think he would end the show, but I do think we would see some changes next year.
I think Simon would be a lot more harsh about who actually gets through to Judges houses, and I wouldnt be surprised if they changed the category format to allow for groups but not necessarily to need groups. Does anyone else think its actually pointless having girl groups? Its not fair, but they are never popular. Or he may just give up. I mean, he has Idol, he might decide he doesnt need X Factor. |

I haven't actually entertained the possibility that they would win, I think he would prevent them. I can't see the show coming back from them winning if they were to - unless an amazing bunch were put through next year.

and just how will he make money out of the gruesome twosome
I think he will be bothered, a million quid is a million quid ![]() ) I am sure Simon would manage to recoup a large part if not all or more of his million £ investment (which really isn't all that much in the scheme of things). IMO the only thing that could really kill the show is lack of publicity, fall in phone votes, advertisers pulling out, viewers switching over to SCD. All this publicity - negative or not - is grist for the X Factor publicity mill. A week or so ago we had the Danyl homophobia row, now we have the 'twins to win' furore. Next week it will probably be something else |

He might quit..but the fact is they wouldn't have gone through without his say so.
If you don't want comedy acts to win...then you don't put them through. |

If J&E win (and I'd love to see Cowell's face if they do), I think the show will survive but Simon will move hell and high water next year to ensure that no novelty acts get to the finals.
The twins could go on to be a very successful act, just not as singers. |

Of course he would not quit.
13 million viewers, people talking about it, loads of publicity. Remember the MAJORITY of the judges put J&E through to the last 24, ok it was LW who had them in the final three, but he had sod all to work with so why not take a punt on the twins. All this is great press and TV coverage for the show, loads of revenue through the votes and massive amounts of advertising. |

LW said quite early on that he didn't have a chance of winning with the groups so why not have a laugh with Jedward.
Actually unlike Psycho he seems to be a good manager, G4 did really well after the X factor and he's been very successful with mainstream acts. So if he thinks there's a market for them he could be right. He also said early on that most groups can't sing that well when they start off. I don't think J & E are unable to sing, if you look at how energetically they're dancing I think they do very well, they can sing in tune so if they were produced to sound as good as possible it would be just as good to listen to as Girls Aloud on the radio! (Have a look at GA singing 'The Promise' on X Factor last year if you want to see an act that can't sing!) It's all very well for Simon to say 'who would want to listen to that on the radio' but who'd want to listen to Cheryl Cole on the radio without her records being produced so her voice sounds as good as possible? |

It wouldn't end the show, but they certainly would take more serious care of who they put through next year.
Simon should also worry about launching a US X Factor. |

i think we may see a change in format again next year, or they will be more strict on who they take through. I really think it should be top 12 of anything, not categories as there was a lot of talent left behind and, apart from Miss Frank, the group category was very weak this year, whilst the overs could have had 6 people through.

Wasn't Eoghan getting the most votes last year until near the end of the competition. Doesn't mean J & E will win, just because at the moment they are getting most votes.

First Big Brother, now X Factor. The voting public doing a great hatchet job on reality shows this year... almost as if there's some sort of subversive ironic backlash going on
