If as many suspect...some of the people got through from the crowd reaction alone and not the real talent.

is it now showing up in some of the acts who clearly are one trick ponies.

i definetly agree on this. judges get egged on by putting acts through. i think even though no one liked J and E at the auditions, i still think the whole atmosphere of the audience made them more likely to go through, where as if they auditioned how they did orignially, they would not have got through, i don't no why i believe that, but i do think that is why. they need to go back to the room process, and also be tighter on who they put through. if john and edward were not irish, i bet you anything lousi would not have put them through, he would have said these guys cannot sing...

I really hated the auditions this year. Not just the audience, allowing backing tracks was to me, a mistake. With music behind them, it can make a mediocre singer sound better than they actually are. The audience doesn't judge the singing as much as the performance, unless it's a truly awful singer, the sort that are so bad they are shown as part of the audition process.
Please go back to the old format next year.

My personal feeling is that they wanted an over 25 year old winner this year which is why they used the live audition format - since people who are experienced at performing are more likely to do well in such a situation and perhaps give the impression that they deserve to get through when they really aren't anything special. But the reality is that Simon/producers will have picked the people they wanted to get through anyway - it just gave people like Jamie/Danyl a chance to shine in the early stages and create a good impression on the voting audience ...

I completely agree. I think it's been said before that Danyl's original audition would not have been anywhere near as impressive without a backing track or live audience (particularly given that he didn't actually sing that much at all really, it was all about the performance). Same with Jedward. In fact much as I hate to admit it I'm not sure my beloved Olly would have got through without audience reaction either.

I think you do make a good point, but we have to remember that during live auditions contestants are singing songs they know well, and that are within their genre, so they are much better at singing those particular songs. In the live shows the songs are mostly chosen for them and not necessarily in their style.
