On ITT Katya made a very pointed comment about Ricky W's Samba ....she said that Phil's Samba was very fast and made a point of saying how slow Ricky and Natalie's was !!!!! perhaps the other pros have been reading Rickys blog and are not happy.

Series 1 - Christopher Parker, yes I loved the fact that he was so rubbish but, kept going week after week.
However, I will concede that the right person won. ![]() Series 2 - Julian Clary. I loved his spats with Craig. Again the right person won but, I doubt if we'll ever see such a fantastic QS again.Series 3 - Colin Jackson. The first time I actually invested emotion in a celeb. and actually shed a tear when he lost out to Darren.Series 4 - Peter Schmeichel. Again I loved his attitude but, I was a little disappointed when Ray went out before him. This was also the series where I felt SCD lost a lot of it's innocence. When Bruno admitted that he gave Emma a 10 just to ensure that she wouldn't go in the dance-off, I went right off her and I lost a lot of trust in their judgement ever since. ![]() Series 5 - John Barnes. What can I say? One day one of these no-hopers will pick up the trophy! I can remember the rumpus when he got his 10 but, funnily enough I could understand why Len gave it, which is more than I can say about Bruno's. ![]() Series 6 - Rachel Stevens. I hadn't enjoyed a partnership so much since Colin and Erin. Series 7 - I doubt he'll pick up the trophy but, I love Ricky Whittle. I see him in the same mould as Rachel and Colin. Fabulous dancers who in years to come people will say how on earth did they lose to.............

I'm amazed that anyone takes anything in the Express seriously. I sincerely doubt Ricky truly is "angry" at "lack of support" as he clearly has plenty. It's just a line to hook readers.
Ricky has no less personality than anyone else in the competition & I don't personally find him irritating unlike Ricky G & Craig. Ricky is a naturally gifted dancer & Natalie an excellent dancer & teacher. The main gripe with them on here as ever, seems to be that they're relatively good-looking & successful off the show. I will never understand this forum's obsession with mediocrity. |

I just think he's a bit dull and he hasn't improved since week 1 - yet he has the potential to be amazing
but i'd still want Craig, Zoe, Laila, Natalie and Phil to go out before him |

After all it was only a matter of time before Ricky's penchant for self praise (thereby implying superior performances over the other competitors) invoked a response of the nature of Katya's. Quote:

Ricky is a naturally gifted dancer & Natalie an excellent dancer & teacher. I've yet to see anyone criticising their "good looks," and I find Jade and Ian far more striking than RW and Nat. As for success off the show, he's no more successful than any other soap actor, and I'd be very surprised if any viewers other than Hollyoaks fans had heard of him before SCD.The main gripe with them on here as ever, seems to be that they're relatively good-looking & successful off the show. It might seem that way, but a no hoper has never lifted the glitterball.

They like people that are not much good or who have to improve fair enough but if the person is a natural good dancer what are they supposed to do pretend they are not good etc - how strange. I also find it strange that Ali (who I love) I think was top of the leader board in the beginning and who is known to have had dance training etc get no critcism or flack at all. I am happy for her but it is just unfair. |

I don't agree that people here dislike good dancers
![]() Jade and Ian are popular and so are Ali and Brian. I like Zoe very much too though don't like James. A bad dancer has never won SCD so it can't be that bad dancers are more popular. In my case it's that I want it all I want a good dancer who entertains me in other ways too. I see that Ricky is a good dancer but that is all, he leaves me cold apart from that. Jade on the other hand, as an example, makes me smile as well as enjoy her dances. So I like her better.

Actually right at the beginning (even before the "showmance") Ali was on ITT telling Ricky to "bring it on". Also Laila was saying the same about Zoe, fortunately they have both stopped it now but, Ricky wasn't the only one.

I'm not sure that's really the point though, is it? Saying "bring it on" is just playing up to rivalry surely? I think (and I don't wish to put words in his mouth) that Ignazio is commenting on the comments in Ricky's blog where he's - albeit implicitly - putting the other competitors down.
Oh and to those in this thread asking "How does he know" the answer is in today's Daily Star. Chris is way out in front with the voting public with Tuffers being his nearest challenger.

Sorry I may have misunderstood because I didn't read it as putting the other competitors down, I saw it as as a statement of how it's the culture in this country to support the underdog. Furthermore, given the furore over his statement if he had said "bring it on" to Ali, Zoe or Laila this forum would have gone into melt down. As sure as eggs are eggs I doubt very much much if many of the people posting in this thread would have seen it as "just" playing up to rivalry.

I agree that you can be a wonderful dancer technically and also dull as ditchwater in terms of entertainment and emotional connection. The other thread about the World Champion Latin dancers also bears this out.
I don't agree that the forum has an obsession with mediocrity (although I do think Brits have a tendency to shoot down the successful) - I think the forum as a whole understands that a competitor in the arena of the performing arts needs to have the whole package - technical expertise and the ability to entertain. The exact balance between the two, of course, is a matter of taste. Ricky W's only dance so far to excite any kind of non-objective reaction in me was his Paso - I really thought it had the elusive wow factor. Otherwise, much like the Latin couple, he leaves me not quite cold, but simply uninterested. So I wouldn't vote for him. |

I wish the judges would give more credit to performance when it comes to marking. They may praise highly with comments but then follow up with marks that appear to only consider technique with the result that flat dances receive higher marks than those that had us cheering from our sofas. At least we have the public vote to correct this injustice! ![]() Quote:

Ricky's "no time to train" litany is not doing him any favours. Instead of garnering sympathy which may allow him to be less than his best, it is simply highlighting the fact that many of his routines are under-rehearsed. It's annoying to viewers - this viewer anyway - that he agreed to take part in a show he really doesnt have time to participate in. It comes off as a bit greedy. The exact balance between the two, of course, is a matter of taste. I will go find Ricky W's Paso and watch again as I can't recall it at all unfortunately. If it was the same week as Ricky Gs though I am not surprised. Now that was a performance. |

If he was reading this thread, I would have thought he'd do something about improving the grammar on his blog so we can actually understand what he's going on about!
