There seems to be alot more remixed versions of songs that are better than the original. Below are a few examples.

Any others?

Beyonce-Greenlight (Freemasons mix)
Beyonce and Shakira -Beautiful Liar (Freemasons Mix)

Freemasons worked wonders on a few other Beyonce Tracks, but I can't decide if I prefer the originals or the remix lol

I also love the freemasons remixes on Beyonces tracks. I love the freemasons remix of Deja Vu.

Brimful Of Asha by Cornershop is the most dismal, dronelike tune you could ever wish to hear. Thankfully Fatboy Slim got hold of it and turned it into a superb single which hit no.1 if I recall correctly.

The Freemasons remixes to Beyonce's Green Light & Beautiful Liar, Kelly Rowland - Work (Freemasons Remix), Pixie Lott - Mama Do (Remix) its the version that's been played on MTV Dance and The Saturdays - Work (Cahill Radio Edit) ...the version they put out to work wasn't that good, the remix gave the song the umph it needed! xo

Their remixes walk all over the original.

The Beautiful Liar remix is immense.

I agree with the Beyonce/Kelly Rowland remixes already mentioned, and I also love the Freemasons remixes of I Decided by Solange and Ring The Alarm by Beyonce.

They're about the only remixes I prefer to the original versions - I usually hate remixes.

i have to agree a good example of a poor tune before a remix

david morales mix of jamiroquai's space cowboy was miles better than the original it was so slow and boring

another good one

deep dish remix delacy hideaway and todd terry's remix of everything but the girls missing

funny they come from nearly the same year as well

I got Passion Pit - To Kingdom Come (Artwork remix) free on the NME Daily Download the other day and it's amazing, i love the original but i think this may even be better.

The Twelves mixes are all pretty good, esp the Black Kids 'not gonna teach....' one

the Blunt Laser remix of Izzi Dunn 'Tits & Ass' is being given away on various blogs, that's pretty cool

The Above & Beyond mix of Madonnas 'What it feels like for a girl'.

I can't stand the album version - one of the very few M songs i don't like, but this remix is brilliant.

a few recent ones off the top of my head

Jordin sparks - S.O.S (Buzz Junkies remix)
Cheryl cole - Fight for this love (moto blanco remx)
Jade ewen - My man (cahill remix)
The saturdays - Forever is over (Manhattan clique remix)
Pixie lott - Mama do (Linus loves remix)

as someone has said above the freemasons remixes of beyonce's songs are all brill - just wish they'd done irreplaceable too!

Looking through all my commerical and non-commerical pop and dance tracks - about 80% of them are remixes as opposed to the originals. I suppose i prefer artists re-interpretations of original ideas.

Whilst I do love the original, especially when laying around being 'moody' in a darkened room, the radio/dance remix of Dubstar's Stars clinches it as to which version I always prefer to hear blasting out loud:

I loved most of that Motiv-8 sound that was prevalent for a few years in the mid-late 90s, just makes me think of good simple fun nights out.

My particular favourites were the Andrew Weatherall remixes of the late 80's, early 90's.
Loaded- Primal Scream
Only love can break your heart- Saint Etienne
Soon - My Bloody Valentine
Come Home- James
Weekender- Flowered Up
To name a few.

+1 for Weatherall - past and present - and Thin White Duke (aka Stuart Price who's produced Madonna, The Killers etc dontcha know)

Also consistently producing good work remix-wise in 2009 are -
Aeroplane
GRUM
Holy Ghost
Fred Falke
Lifelike

Can't think of any I've heard recently that are better than the original other than maybe Holy Ghost's revamp of Phoenix's Lisztomania.

A remix of Bill Withers' Lovely Day was released in 1988 which I prefer to the original.
