If this had been in a pet shop, from what I'm led to believe if you have the cash, this little cat would have been with my mum today.

I was reading about those kittens and cats who have a week to find homes or they are getting put down, If you read one of the comments, someone was denied a kitten because their house was next to a busy road from this place that is going to kill all these pets.

I'm all for security measures for giving pets to new owners but if these measures were relaxed more, wouldn't more people go to the rescue centers and avoid pets shops.

I walked into the same C&D rescue place 13 years ago and I still have my little dog and I wasn't asked half the questions my mum was asked filling out that form.

Now it looks like my mum will have to go private to getting a kitten.

If this happened to you, would you sign it?”

I signed the petition, but I agree with a lot of the points you made. I do think the rescue centres have to be careful, but some of their policies are just insane.

Ginger puss is mine, the other is .....OSCAR! Her boyfriend Mine was having a drink - although I have a dish next to the pond to catch rainwater that's always full but that apparently isn't preferred to licking from the pond.!

They watch but the second the fish come to the surface, then make a noise bobbing and flicking their tails to go back down...they bottle it and jump back.

The saying 'Scardey cats' is true. LOL

This is Black's sis, 'White', when she was about 7. http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/7072/white.png RIP Both of them now. She 'went' before Black.

Still, all of the wee buggars gave me lots of great memories of them for being in my life.

Crazy thing is. I never really took to ginger cats. This little one picked me when I went to the Cat Rescue, I knelt down and she came running over, up onto my knees, and stuck her face right into mine, and I MEAN.... fur on face... and smelled me for all she was worth.

I couldn't imagine life without her, she is more of a 'person' than any cat I've ever had. she is more 'my owner' than the other way about.

I never went looking for a ginger cat either when we got ours.

We answered an ad in the paper. The woman's cat had 6 or 8 kittens, and she was giving them away. We got to the house, and the woman was very pregnant, very harassed, and the garden was full of kids and cats lol. I think she was desperate to get the kitties rehomed before she went into labour.

Anyway, all of the cats and kittens were playing together, wrestling, jumping into flower pots, etc.... except one. He was just sat there on his own. I felt sorry for him so I went over and picked him up and said "I want this one please" LoL

And, that was it. He was my big baby boy.. used to lay on me all the time.. preferred me to everyone else in the house.. We lost him last July to kidney failure and I still miss him.

This was taken a few weeks before we lost him..

And, I made this afterwards...

Stroppy, I'm so sorry XXXX Now I see what you mean about mine looking like yours. Miss Mols (would you believe, that's a 'pet' name, for her name!!!!!), when she lies like this and she is TOO cute and I've got to go kiss her face and head all ver with those little 'smpptt smpptt smppttt' kisses.

The poem is lovely, you didn't get that long with him, but I bet he had the time of his little life with you.

Awww.. thanks.

13 years wasn't too bad.. we lost our first cat at age 4. He got hit by a car. So, 13 was better than 4. Our 3rd one is still causing mayhem.. he's 14. And, our 4th one is just little.. he's just 3.

I had white and black for19 and 21 years. Loosing the tailess tortie at 7 was a real blow. 14 years and still causing mayhem....sounds like black and white genes to me!

I get the feeling Miss Mols is here for the duration though.

Here's one of the strays that me and my friend feed, love and welcome on dark, cold wet, nights....

Aww he's a beaut. I have a soft spot for gingers
We never went looking for ours either. I was going to get my daughter a kitten when she had to have 5 teeth out in 2002 (due to overcrowding NOT decay ) but there were none available. There was an ad in the paper for this old ginger boy whose owner had died so we went to see him and that was that. He was a skinny bag o bones and never did put much weight on but he was lovely...so affectionate. He developed epilepsy after a few years and we kept him going on medication for another couple of years but he had to be PTS in 2007
