I have suddenly developed a problem with my Humax Foxsat HDR / surround sound setup. I have no audio via the optical output when tuned to the BBC HD channel - although audio via HDMI (straight into the TV) is still ok.

Sound from other channels are ok via optical - so I think the optical cable and amp are both good.

I've also tried:-

Retuning
Factory reset
Retuning using a different postcode in case there happened to be any regional problems with my BBC HD broadcast.
...but the problem remains.

Any advice welcome.

The audio output from optical is Dolby Digital rather than PCM. Are you sure your amp has dolby digital decoding ?

Thanks Graham - that's it sorted now.

My amp had accidentally been set to PCM - normally it's set to 'Auto' decode - I'm going to blame the kids for that one
