Is hummy.org.uk no more? DNS seems to fail for it

I've just tried pinging it, no response here either

The domain is overdue renewal and the host DNS is down too.

Indeed - renewal date was 22nd October.

You get a grace period usually, so if the owner doesn't pull their finger out in the next few days then the hummy.org.uk domain name will be on the market and a speculator will get it.

It's only the domain name that anybody would be able to get, the actual site and contents will be safe with the host. Until the host deletes it, anyway.

It takes about 3 months of different statuses before the domain will be available on the drop. I could grab it, but don't want it

It's working fine for me and other's. Just seen a new posting.

I suspect that means that they've just got it going again on a different server and the new DNS record is working its way around the various ISP's because I get an instant fail at the moment.

When some people get the site and others get an instant fail it usually means a new DNS record.

Can't be found from here. I note 'whois' still shows a renewal date of 22 October 2009 and the status "Renewal required".

I'm a sufferer too, so am wondering if there is some common factor in our inability to access the site, or more definitely Graham's set up differences that get him to the site .

I would imagine it's the isp dns server details are different. I am on virgin if that's any help.

Just opened a thread over there so hopefully something might get sorted

I hope I am interpreting the info in the link right, but seemingly it indicates Dynahost is the problem; noted as suspended

I've looked at your lonk, but allowing for my penchant for misinterpretation The entry seems already to be in my hosts file. Here are a few lines of it

77.74.196.104 www,hummy.org.uk

What to do now? Simple steps for tech challenged old git, please.

There is an error in the Hosts file
Line: 127.0.0.1 localhost77.74.196.104
Remove 77.74.196.104 at the end
Leaving 127.0.0.1 localhost

Edit: Also noticed you have a comma in www,hummy.org.uk
Should be www.hummy.org.uk

Thanks very much for the help, but......

What's a "hummy.org. Google Hosts File".

I've navigated to the directory where the host files seem to found. I tried editing (notepad) the "hosts" file but it would only let me save as a txt doc which would be no good.

So I guess the question is how do I get the "77.74.196.104 www.hummy.org.uk" into the hosts file?

Thanks and sorry for being a bit thick!
