Connecting Nikon D40 to TV
Coz21

What cable do you need to connect a Nikon D40 to a Sony Bravia TV or a Panasonic DVD recorder, in order to take a photo of yourself by viewing what you are taking on the TV?

You can't - the D40 doesn't support Live View.

I know it doesn't have a screen on the bak, but can't you even connect it to a TV? It says in the manual you can connect it to a TV for playback and recording, but can you connect it to take a picture and see what you are taking on the TV?

There's a reason you can't view it on the camera's screen - it doesn't support it! All you'll see on the TV screen when taking photos is a large display of the reciprocity values and camera settings, and to be able to view recorded images in playback mode.
