Great British Public strike again. They are doing the same with X Factor with the Twins. They cant sing, they are only in the show because that odious little Louis decided to put them there because they are irish like him. Couldnt possibly see them making anything out of it if they won. The public wouldnt buy the music of someone who cant keep to a tune.

Same thing here Chris is rubbish as a dancer but the public are again set to make a mockery of the competition. He isnt very impressive as an actor either.

They are mindless idiots out there with more money than sense, psrobably the same set who vote on both shows.
And the award for the most ridiculous comparisan of the day goes to....

How the hell can you compare Chris Hollins to the god awful Jedward twins? He's not anywhere near as bad, if we were talking about John Sargeant or Fiona Phillips then fair play, but Chris actually has a lot of potential. He just needs to get over his nerves and remember his steps and since when was he an actor? Last time I checked he was news presenter. Maybe get your facts straight in future before calling people "mindless idiots"?

I'm a massive team Cola fan I hope if it is true this will not affect his public support

not counting my chickens yet, I tried to get Gethin into the final and he was pretty popular

Oooh I think that's a bit harsh.

Surely people should be entitled to spend their money voting for who they like for whatever reason they like without being sneered at?

It's all above board.

The twins and Chris Hollins are my favourite contestants in each show. I don't vote because I can't but calling people who do "mindless idiots" shows that you're taking these Saturday night entertainment programmes too seriously altogether.

It's pretty widely held that Aled won the public vote for the first six weeks of series two
Not what I heard by a pretty well-placed source!??

but anyway....

I think Chris has the potential to be pretty good, so let's hope he pulls it together and starts remembering his steps. I would love him to go far in the competition. No comparison to the John S situation or other bad dancers, as he clearly hasn't got "two left feet".

They do.

Frequently.

Aren't we asked to vote for our "favourites" each week? Regardless of how well the celebs are performing, they are all trying their best and it's rather disrespectful to call people who vote for them "mindless idiots"

He was actually in the bottom two for weeks five and six, which I believe proves your source wrong. As I said, it's pretty widely held that Aled won weeks one to six.

I could easily see that the report is accurate. Don't have any empirical evidence, but I'd guess people vote for different reasons at different stages of the show ... personality and partnership you'd guess would figure high early on. You hear loads of people saying how they like Chris and Ola together. He's not in the total no-hoper category as a dancer - if anything, he could be on a bit of a rollercoaster from week to week as the show goes on ... so, unpredictable; people don't know what they're gonna get on a Saturday before he dances it, which I think some people probably like. Sometimes he's a little bit irritating, but he seems a grounded sort of bloke who takes criticism on the chin and a lot of people seem to warm to.

Most importantly of all though, my guess as to why he'd be topping the leaderboard is the journey word - not his, but Ola's in the public perception. Maybe her personality has always been the same and the audience never noticed it or chose to ignore it. I've no idea. But you hear a lot of people say 'I really like Ola this year and I could never really take to her before'. She was the flighty type who always had to wear dresses that said look at me and seemed a little moody was what you heard lots of women especially say under their breath before. Now you hear stuff like 'she's kinda cuddly, funny, I like her for the first time etc'.

On a show that's as much about entertainment as dancing with its daily personality/partnership spin-off show, Chris Hollins is playing a bit of a blinder so far.

Yes I agree. In the end of the day if this was a proper dancing competition then we would just let the judges hav all the votes

Brilliant news!!!! I'm not surprised they're popular with the public Chris has got the 'common touch' and has an ednearing personality.

Chris and Ola are my favourite pair this series. I really hope they win but Chris really needs to uo his game. I'm sure he will when it comes to the crunch.

How insulting to say he has tewo left feet - the guy can dance and he has a personality and is most important an entertainer

Not enough to be a good technician - you need to be likeable with it

I'm a "Team Cola" supporter ,and to be honest would love to see them win, comparing Chris to those awful twins on X Factor is very unfair,as is any comparison to John Sargeant...Chris can dance, and the partnership he has with Ola is the best of any of the couples this series, they have great chemistry ,his could be a win like Darren Gough's.... on paper rank outsider, but with perserverance and personality the glitterball could be theirs ..Shock horror from the rigid po faced officianados, technically he may not be spot on..YET.. but let's face it Ali may be graceful and her VW was excellent ,but it's all so intense ,and apologies for this but so bland and devoid of personality and passion, and she doesn't always deliver..Ricky W tonight made mistakes but that seems to be okay?
On more than one occassion I've thought Chris and Ola were undermarked..so Team Cola all the way,and personally I think Ola has done a great job with Chris.

I don't really have a clear favourite though would be happy for Chris and Ola to win. Chris may not be as good a dancer as Ricky W or Ali, but he's not bad and he has a good personality. I don't dislike Ricky or Ali, I just find them bland (particularly Ali who always seems to me to have a slightly startled or scared expression on her face when dancing).

I like Phil Tuffnel too, so would be happy for him to win. I loved his dance the week he had his knee op - I know there were quite a few moments when he did nothing, but the bits he did and his hip action I found so entertaining and thought his personality shone through.

I dont think you will, Chris has improved a lot and people love that. The article was silly to make any comparison anyway, as there is none.

Chris Hollins has won every public vote so far, according to tomorrow's Daily Star, with Phil Tufnell his nearest challenger: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/vie...-John-dancing/
What crap, well what do you expect from the Daily Star.

We already had the John Sergeant, he was voted out yesterday

Ive since read that Tom was quoted as second favourite after John but as I remembered it, JS had a total of 1.5m followed by AH with 700k. My memory isnt great though and as I can't find any link to the article I will concede I am probably wrong

I made my prediction before seeing this thread, but I still dont think Id have chosen Chris as my "safe" option this week.
I remember that artice pretty well and sorry If I'm covering old ground here, but I'm sure Tom was second favourite behind JS not Austin.

I would not have too many issues with Chris winning IF he continues to improve but not at his current level. Having said that I loved his Foxtrot yesterday so it looks like he's heading the right way.

I can believe Chris is topping the public vote as I think he does appeal to a wide audience and clearly Chris & Ola have one of the best partnerships on SCD in a long time.

If Chris continues to deliver performances like last night's, I think he will make the final and possibly even win. I'll be voting for Team Cola and Jade & Ian until one is eliminated and for me it would be great if that happened in the final - if I have to make a choice then, I will vote for Team Cola. If one goes before for then I'll transfer my vote to the other.

I expect the "journey" spin to begin around Chris soon. The judges may have been bigging him up (and his marks) for an expected fall in a Latin dance - Len's comment would be evidence of that. But Chris has been learning how to learn dances for three months now and seems to be getting better at it - the learning, that is. In addition, you have to like someone who turns Ola from a beautiful woman into a beautiful woman with a genuinely happy smile.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get to the final and knock out Ricky W at half-time. Whether he took the trophy would depend on who his opponent was and how well they danced.

So I guess resistance is futile then He's not bad, but as for me, there's still at least Ali and Ricky W that come before him.

His Latin's been ok, just I think he forgets the routine sometimes. His ballroom is alot better.

I like him very much and his partnership with Ola is just adorable.
