I think Nosecandy is probably Graham Norton.

They were clearly miming from the moment they opened their mouths.

Robin was half a second out of lip sync all the way through the song.

As a fan, I was very disappointed as I'd been looking forward to the Bee Gees being on the show, but it was a dire performance with no actual singing and probably not too many instruments being played.

In fairness, I suppose it's possible that Barry can no longer hit the high notes, especially You Should be Dancing which is very high all the way through, but if that was the case, their back catalogue is big enough for them to have done a song which they could've sang live.
They were definately not miming, if they were it would have sounded like the original. So top marks for doing it live, but you have to hit the notes and it just didn't happen.

It is strange that the young ones generally seem to have liked the Bee Gees but the older ones don't. Go figure!

I don't agree with the comment that SCD has poor guests and X-Factor has better guests. In fact, the Bee Gees are the fifth most successful recording artists of all time, with Top 20 hits in 5 decades and number ones as songwriters in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. They may not have been at their best (no Maurice, and they haven't performed for 6 years), but it was certainly a coup for the programme to get them on so soon after the reconcilliation.

Oh, yes. And I can confirm that they were not miming. They were singing live.

Well could someone please tell Barry to make sure his lips move in sync with the sound? Thank you.

Still the Brothers Gibb were at least better than the truly dire Spandau Ballet.
i saw spandau ballet on thursday and they are really good entertainment live

They got set up so quickly, I think they were miming
.

I don't think that was a backing track, if it was whoever made it should have been shot, I'm convinced it was live as nobody could sound so bad miming. I found it terribly sad, the bee gees had some great songs and to hear them sounding like that was upsetting

It was not live. The sound and images didn't marry up at all. And Barry looked dreadful. He couldn't even lip sync.

His lips weren't even moving at some points, and out of sync the rest of the time.

That is an uacceptable comment.

Oh, and by the way:

- there is no apostrophe in the plural of "Gibb",
- "there" is spelt "their"
- and which brother would you like them to join? Maurice or Andy?

Just because you didn't enjoy the performance does not excuse a comment like that about two harmless people.
absolutely agree. what an idiot. or in 'there' language, i absolutlie agrey.

The Gibbs rocked tonight - as did their backing band. It was a great piece of entertainment. I particularly liked the drummer - Ralph, who is a mate of mine. Excellent live music!

Was Barry miked properly or did he have a sore throat?

I thought he'd started in the wrong place or something at the beginning. It was bad. And not in a good way.

I love the Bee Gees, but old age gets us all in the end and Barries voice is not what it was but i still loved it anyway, what disappointed me was the pro dance during it, they should have been doing the saturday night fever dance.

Yes, something wasn't right at the beginning. And there was a lot of echo all the way through, which could explain the "lip synch" effect. They surely wouldn't have mimed alongside a backing track that had a mistake in it.

I have also given further thought to the X-Factor v SCD point. The X-Factor would have to invite Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, the Beatles or Queen (and according to some sources, ABBA) if they were to secure a more successful recording artist than the Bee Gees. I think OCD landing the Bee Gees is going to be hard to top!

That made me laugh.

Only good guest so far has been Harry Connick Jr.
Agree, I really loved him, I didn't like the dancing with him though.

Is Mariah Carey performing?
Hope not, I can't stand her

At least Tony Hadley sang live.
Yeah Tony sang 'live', but be honest it looked and sounded quite desperate....he was hangin' on for dear life these guys don't know when to quite......the beginning of the nineties would've been a good time

As far as the BG's, well they just looked and sounded tired...and incomplete....:sleep:it's just not the same without that third one, who died a few years ago...
And poor Barry had this blown up face from medication I guess he suffers from arthritis doesn't he?

Overall a lackluster performance...I wonder who will be on next week....by the way things are going I'm guessing Westlife with another 'tried tune'

Err..

These days, they don't mime to original records made when they were in their twenties, when artists are now in their fifties or sixties. That'd be a dead give-away. They use a recently made studio enhanced version.

As I said, they got set up so quickly. It's difficult to achieve a correct sound balance like that.

They're not really the Bee Gees anymore. Maurice Gibb - the third member of the group - died in 2003. To me, the Bee Gees were a three piece group, not a two piece group.

Was it actually live, or a recorded segment?

In their hey day, they were the best.... sadly.... father time came along and battered them senseless as he tends to do to all of us !!!!

Poor Barry was like a white haired OAP grand-dad let loose at a family wedding....and as for Robin...... dear God......does the man not eat..... he has that end stage anorexic look to perfection.

Sometimes you should be left with memories of the greats the way they were... and this was one of those times.... and as for the great Andy Williams.....well.. won't even go there !!!

That's the problem, these people don't know when to give up. Since the "credit crunch" no end of them seem to be coming out of the woodwork.

Yes they were bad, but Andy Williams was worse.

I've always liked many of the recordings I heard in my youth and particularly Motown, to the extent I've a jukebox in my summerhouse with 80 7" records in it, a high proportion are Motown, many of them "mint" copies. You can't beat the sound of a "proper" record played on a jukebox, beats CD's every time.
I've several Martha Reeves and the Vandellas amongst them, but I heard her live on a show recently and she was truly dreadful, she sang terribly off key and her voice had gone. So sad when this happens. The following day I had to go down to the summerhouse to play a few of her records just to get the sound out of my head.
