Just a thought I had, but I couldn't see that much wrong with it, certainly not 8s!

No, personally I thought they were overmarked. I was a bit disappointed in their performance especially after having been expecting so much more after seeing them rehearsing on It Takes Two during the week.

You could tell they were expecting 10's there faces were a picture when they got 8's and a 9.

As much as I love them, no, I thought the marks were adequate.

It was a polished performance but it didn't wow me like their Foxtrot did.

Anton over-hyped it (putting pressure on Laila who looked tense) and chose a bizarre track to dance to.

You know, it reminds me so much of the Erin-Colin "this Foxtrot will get the first male ten ever" fiasco... I kind of didn't want it to get tens because of the way they were hyping it.

I actually felt a little underwhelmed by it, I don't think the music really worked. It shouldn't affect the marks, but I suspect with a more classically ballroom track it might have had four nines.

It was ok. Not outstanding like he promised on ITT, 8s were about right for it.

Apart from the Flekerl it was mostly natural turns they broke out of the reverse turns after a few turns each time and it was a little skippy.

Still it was the best dance she has done marked about right.

No, they were marked correctly, if not a bit overmarked.

Sorry OP there was a stumble and the marks reflected that. It was lovely and maybe if they hadn't fluffed up they would have got higher marks. It's a shame because the rehearsals looked good.

You missed my point, what was wrong with it? Apart from a tiny but of skipping, and not all the way through, why was it short of a 10 by two marks?

It was surely worth at least a nine. (Only one judge gave them a nine) I would just like the judges to explain.

I didn't see a stumble and it wasn't mentioned. I'll re-watch it.

I thought Laila looked a bit nervous and tense and it was all a little skippy, it didn't flow like it did in the training footage. Plus the routine didn't really grab me. I loved the music though.

I couldn't believe that the judges ignored it but, several of us commented about it on the live thread.

Anton should not make remarks like "this could be the best dance in SCD ever" or whatever he said it doesnt endear him to the public and will stop people voting for him and Laila. and clearly is wasnt the best dance ever

They were fairly marked in absolute terms. It didn't live up at all to Anton's hype and there was at least one very obvious mistake.

However there were at least 5 couples overmarked tonight.

Sometimes "what was wrong" is just the routine not sparkling enough. In this case I suspect it lost one mark for a few technical issues, and another for not being a really "wow" routine. Granted that is hard to do in a VW, but it has been done.

I'd be quite happy with a judging system which was openly giving nines for technical perfection, and tens for technical perfection plus capturing the audience. Much better surely than "well there wasn't anything bad about it" being worth a ten! Of course that seems to be the precedent the judges created for themselves in series six

Not in my opinion.

Their foxtrot justifiably topped the leader board - this VW failed to enthral.

We could have scores for technical merit, and then artisitic merit! Love it!

What more can you do with a VW? I seem to remeber Alesha's was good, what did they do differently? routine wise I mean.

There was a stumble, from Laila. Nerves again? The only mistake free routine has been the Samba, which deserved better remarks from the judges.

Tonight was disappointing, especially for week 7. One excellent dance, the Quickstep, another good one, the foxtrot, and the Paso and the Viennese being reasonable from the dancing point of view. Decent performances from Natalie, Phil and the other Ricky. The rest weren't complete disasters but poor for week 7.

This is becoming a one horse race with a couple of others fighting to be runners up.

I really don't think the music worked with the choreography, to be honest, which I thought was quite jarring. The dance itself was fairly nice, but I don't think it was worth much more than it got - which was still a good score!

Maybe the music was the problem. I guess we may find out on ITT next week.

I thought I saw a slight wobble from Laila and Anton looking a bit strained, but the judges never mentioned it.
