That is pathetic - people should not buy them but make a donation instead.

I have a question regarding poppies, but it's slight OT. If a contestant is a pacifist or doesn't agree with a red poppy, what would happen? Would they be excused from wearing one, or could they possibly wear a white poppy instead? Something tells me it wouldn't go down well with the voters either way. Has a contestant ever actually done that, because they seem to wear poppies every season?

Wearing a white poppy be effectively taking a contestant out in one fell swoop. It'll never happen.

I guess no one should make someone wear a poppy if they do not want to, and as a pacisit I still wear one in memory of the men who laid down their lives in WW1 and WW2, as without them I may not even be here. I hate wars, but sometimes if you are under threat of attack you have no other choice. I hope that makes some sense.

I also think anyone buying one at £35 is a nutter, as with only £5 going to the charity that is an insult to the public let alone the charity.

Noone should make a profit from selling the poppies. Maybe the materials are expensive or something, but anyone making them should be prepared to give 100% of the profits to the poppy fund.
