Third Place & in the dance off.....
Just had to start this thread, think of it like the Pink dress from last year or dancing on ITT on a Friday:
Third week running and one of the couples in third place (Ali and Brian) in the dance off. |

Third place isn't what it used to be...with the new scoring system when there are ties.

I've just said the same thing on another thread. Third on the leaderboard is a vulnerable place to be. It was Ali & Brian rather than Laila & Anton because Anton generated so much hype about Laila's VW that people thought it was undermarked.

I really wasn't looking at the scoring system with this. I just love the superstitions that start on the show. The more the better IMO.

As you say when there are tied votes the ones on the bottom have a much better chance. Before with 10 couples if you finished last with one vote, the most you could get was 11. Tonight 14 was the most they could get. The only logical reason behind it is to keep in the more popular dancer regardless of ability, so they get more money. But if people stop watching because the standard drops aren't they just shooting themselves in the foot. |

how's this for a superstition............Claudia's theory of Zoe's choker was well blown out of the water tonight.........definitely the wrong 2 couples in the dance off, but as I was watching the results, I was sitting thinking 'Zoe's safe - she's got a choker on'

Exactly. I wonder why they changed it, especially as the judges have been complaining about the public vote for years.

I think the DO just encourages the kind of voting it was introduced ostensibly to combat...and is, therefore, counter-productive. |
