I only just got round to watching the show and I don't know about the rest of you but, oh my - it was terrible!

Joe was pretty decent vocally but he's far too childish and camp to carry out 'Rock Week'.

Lucie destroyed a classic and thinks that by screwing up her face it makes her a rock singer...

Danyl took the 'sadness' to a totally new level and just looked like her couldn't be bothered to be there or care about what he was doing.

Lloyd = WTF!

Stacey was good but so boring.

Jamie was dissapointing - picked an old rock song with so many to choose from...

Rachel gone back to her rubbish self.

John and Edward messed up their lines but put in probably the most exciting performance of the night.

Olly was 'meh'.

I've wanted 'Rock Week' ever since the themes were introduced and I wish I hadn't wished for it now.

Terrible show overall tonight.

If there's no 'rocker' amongst the finalists next year, Simon will not have a rock night!

Yeah I had high hopes for this week, but it justs shows that a simple little pop based programme should steer clear from REAL music :P

Half the songs I dont even consider Rock - Keane??? Katy Perry!?!?!?!?! They seem to think sticking a couple of guitar chords in the choruses makes a song rock.

Simon only had a rock night because of Jamie.

So I doubt there will be one next year anyway.

It was pants all round really, only 3 songs id consider rock, and only 3 decent performances
Olly
Rachel
Jamie
the rest were just pants. Suddenly im rapidly going off x factor generally and am starting to wonder if this is the beginning of the end.

Too many bad karaoke singers for rock week to be a success.....a lot of them aren't even good pop singers.

I see your point! "Rock Week" never actually happened did it? Apart from Jamie and 'The twins', everyone seemed to sing ballads or pop songs!
I voted for Danyl anyway, cos I feel a bit sorry for him!
(I normally vote for Joe - but he'll be safe this week!)

I have to agree, have always wanted a rock night, but was totally let down by it, some dire song choices some I did not even know and were certainly NOT rock songs.

Highlight I guess were Jedward... at least I laughed at their performance and I dont mean in a nasty way, my son and I just could not stop laughing, good for them as at least they dance, run around and try to sing, Stacey, well that walk sent her off key, so she will be static again next week and just as boring I imagine.

The rocker there choose such a dreadful song to sing, sorry I really thought Jamie would nail it, and why no Bon Jovi numbers and no mentoring from them either shame I had hope Jon would do some.

I'm fairly certain Rock Week was mostly for Jamie anyways. Think there should have been one last year for Ruth but she wasn't in Simon's category

No, he didn't. They had a rock week for the first time on AI this year and it was very successful and Simon said then he would like to have a rock week on XF this year.

i'm surprised they haven't had rock week before, it's a big genre. It's more current than big band
'cept it's always going to be watered down rock

not really surprised it was a total failure. all the acts are picked for their (supposed) ability to sing in a commercial, poppy idiom. Even the arrangements chosen were very clean, commercial arrangements.

maybe they should call it "classic rock" week or something, would be more descriptive.

there should be a rock week

Ruth Lorenzo won it

why no Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Zeppelin, Thin Lizzie or Motorhead though?

should have been -

Lloyd - Strange Kind of Woman (Deep Purple)
J+E - We are the road-crew (Motorhead)
Lucie - Don't Break My Heart Again (Whitesnake)

Stacey - Silver Machine (Hawkwind)
Ollie - Big Balls (AC/DC)
Danyl - Killer Queen (Queen)

Rachel - Witch Queen of New Orleans (Redbone)
Jamie - Don't Believe a Word (Thin Lizzie)
Joe - Get your hands off my woman mother-fker (Darkness)

I think they had rock week picked because of the guests and not the finalists.

It worked out well for Simon but on the whole was a pretty bad show tonight.

I agree that a lot of the songs weren't rock songs - Katy Perry? She's more pop than rock. I believe this week could have been amazing if the judges knew what rock actually is! Heck Simon Cowell was the most knowledgable - even if he did pick the wrong song for Jamie (even though he still performed it well it could have been amazing if it was a better song)

I Do love rock but hubby he is a life long rock well fanatic is the best I can do.. and well it won't happen again because mostly it was not rock. Has anyone actually listened to rock? Most of the songs on tonight where pop versions of rock songs with some pop songs being called rock. It wasn't rock.

I am just comparing last night on X factor to Adam Lambert's Rock Week performance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U4AIObPsfA

OK There is only one Adam but you see what I mean!

She made a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Five acts sang older songs. It's only 'old' in feel.

She tied with Lucie for best performance of the night.

That qualifies the previous comments, I suppose.

Rachel didn't sing a rock song though. I really hate having themes if they aren't going to stick to them. it was an awful episode, i have to say this is by far the worst X factor ever. They are all so bad.

exactly, it wasn't rock week at all. Theres so many older acts to pick from (Led Zep, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi etc) and loads of newer bands too (Foo fighters, Kings of Leon, Muse, Radiohead, even bleeding Oasis). It was a shocking set of song choices and performances.

Don't forget - if they pick old songs they aren't..... relevant!

Another one of Cowell's utterings i despise!

So why do they persist every year with Big Band Week - in what way is that relevant?
