Hey lizzy

Yes, really into Strictly this year, although I'm not sure any of my favs (Natalie, Chris and Laila) stand a real chance of winning

What about you?

Don't be too sure about that

I am a Chris and Ola fan - and I can see them getting to the semi-final, if not the final (fingers crossed every week). While I like Laila - I don't think she will get to the final, although Natalie could go quite a way yet as she is so enthusiastic and popular with the viewers. After last night's 'upset' I get a feeling that the voting viewers are still supporting the popular celebs rather than the judges favoured ones!! Footygirl is predicting more upsets next week!!
Another member of Team Cola - excellent!

I think part the reason why there are likely to be more upsets this series is because of the new voting format. With couples tied on the leaderboard, it narrows the gap between the top and the bottom of the table leaving the front runners vulnerable....

Don't be too sure about that
Apparently Chris is getting the most votes each week

If that's true, then he stands a chance....

She's deteriorated with each series.

More like an annoying spare part now.
Spot on Sid

Well what is she supposed to say? Nothing?
Exactly Tess is told what to say - it is very much scripted (I have been told by someone who worked on the show) as the judges remarks on the tour are all scripted. She can only say what she is supposed to say.

I really hate all the hate that is directed at Tess and think she does not deserve it. Anyway the BBC are obviously happy with her.

To me, Tess is representative of the autocutie generation. She is a beautiful woman, but without the autocue to rely on, she comes unstuck. When thrown a curve ball, such as when Ricky Groves made the comment about Ant and Dec, she does not know how to react, and seems terrified that someone has crossed the party line or diverted from the script. I'm not a fan of Brucie anymore, but at least he reacts to off-the-cuff remarks with a degree of spontaneity and honesty.

I agree that Claudia would be better than Tess, but that wouldn't be difficult. I fear that her kooky ways would irritate the BBC1 audience after a while. I think Gabby Logan would be better. She's proving herself to have a good sense of humour on Final Score with her handling of the male panel, and is showing that she can adapt to the pace of a fast-moving show.
Gaby Logan is another auto-cutie, away from the auto-cue and the notes on her clipboard she's lost. It's noticeable on Football Focus or whatever, if the guests start digressing and talk about a football related topic that's not in her script, she can add nothing to the conversation.

Her husband Kenny Logan, showed a lot more charm and an abilty to connect with an audience, than she ever has.

The skill of a good presenter is someone who can improvise very quickly if something goes wrong- or the topic veers off. I present on local radio and I have learned this skill because I do football commentary - I can't rely on any script there- I have to think quickly and ahead

In fact I hate having to use a script- If I do have to work with one I will make sure it is as slack as possible

She is a talentless and charmless waste of space, who does nothing but prink and preen and pull stupid faces.
Yes, it's the gurning I find most uncomfortable. I feel rather mean saying it though as it could be a facial tic or something, but these days I find it hard to notice much of what she's saying; I just notice the twitches.

Tess is beginning to get on my nerves too, mind you I can't stand it when Alesha opens her mouth too.

There's several of the former contestants that could do a better job, but as has been said that wouldn't be hard!!
My vote would go for Zoe Ball. She's an experienced presenter and not nearly as annoying as Tess. And perhaps team Zoe up with her father instead of Bruce!

I must be in the minority because I think Tess does a pretty fair job most of the time under difficult circumstances.

I record SCD and give it a 10-15 minute delay so I can fast-forward through Tesspit, makes it so much better.

I'd get Cheryl Cole in instead, just to annoy the people whose real reason for disliking Tess is her accent.
Alternatively Lisa Stansfield, or Jane Horrocks in Prime Minister mode.

I disagree, I have actually warmed more to Gabby doing final score. SHe may not have the football knowledge of Ray STubbs but she does know an awful lot about football and it will improve. SHe can go off script too.

There is no way Tess Daly could do Final Score Can you imagine it

Tess: oh..and I am hearing of a gaol at Man Chester Uni Ted

I don't dislike Tess because of her accent - that has nothing to do with it. I love Jane Horrocks and Sarah Lancashire and Samia Smith. They all come from the North. The reason why I can't abide the little madam is her prinking, preening, pulling faces, perving over male colleagues like some dirty raincoat and her bitchy comments. She is a waste of airtime. There is a difference between Cheryl Cole and Tess Daly - Cheryl Cole has talent!

Tess and Bruce are both deeply irritating - I always fast forward through them both. Get rid of them and bring in Ant & Dec - they would be brilliant.

They need to have something there because they're filling time whilst waiting for the scoring to be ready.

But Tess really needs to think before she opens her mouth. Some of her inane comments are cringe worthy.
Sometimes she can be astonishingly insensitive.

I recall at the end of series 6 when Matt Di Angelo had just come 2nd to Alesha, she asked him if he and Flavia would "keep in touch" while smirking at the camera.
Given that Vincent was standing just a few feet away this was a thoughtless and crass comment.

I know she asks the same of all contestants but, given the circumstances, she should not have said it.

I agree with you also, people are very quick to complain about her but few of the replacements suggested would match her and her experience on the show. As for the 'difficult circumstances' - is that working with Bruce whilst he's attempting to read from an autocue?

I dont really notice Tess much but Bruce irritates me when he goes on about how much improvement he thinks the couples have made. Shut up Bruce

I like her filling, most of the time. Then again I am immune to the dislike many have for Bruce. Sometimes he makes me laugh.

I really liked Tess in the early series.

I tolerated her last year (when she wouldn't stop banging on about Austin's guns).

But this series, I've gone off her altogether.

I'm losing a bit of patience with Bruce too.

Kate Thornton would be a good replacement - or give it to Alesha

Please not Gabby Logan

PM for you Lizzy
Alesha should never have been considered for any job bigger than Tess's. She could have used her experience on the show to some good if she'd replaced Tess.

Alesha would have done better as a clothes-horse than a judge. Agreed. She could even have danced a bit with Bruce.

You get to the point when Tess is worth keeping just for the laughs. I am referring mostly to her outfits.

The judges can be seen submitting their scores before their comments are made so the scores have long since been known by the time the couple reaches Tess. The paddles are just for effect and they can be seen picking up the right one as the couple walks off. So there really is no time to be filled. All they need is for them to stop in front of a camera off stage to see the scores awarded and that is it. End result less embarrassing interviews and ten minutes back to stop the end of the show being as rushed as it was last night (I've never known such a short gap between announcement of the results and the dance off starting).
Yes. Just think of ... figure skating. The skater goes off the ice and sits with their coach waiting for the scores. ... The scores come up, you see their reaction: it's sufficiently dramatic.

And the marking in figure skating is a lot more complicated than in SCD. I mean, they don't just have judges each coming up with just one number.

I don't know whether Tess is to blame for her comments or whether she's fed them by producers, but either way I'm sick of them.

How did getting higher marks from judges get confused with being judge's favourites?
