Team Cola - can/will Ola step it up for Chris?
Lorelei Lee
01-11-2009
Like many others, I have passionate love for Team Cola, as my phone bill will no doubt testify at the end of the series. I'm happy to keep them in as long as they're entertaining me.

However, watching last night's cha-cha, I thought 'this is all flash and no actual dancing. Chris can do the steps, but where are they?' There was almost no decent content in that dance for my money.

It came to me then that the problem is very possibly Ola, who has never had to carry a celeb this far into the competition, let alone develop somebody with real potential. Chris has rhythm, he works hard to get the spirit of the dance right (evidenced by his goodish rhumba) and is clearly capable of more than he's being given to do.

So - will Ola realise she needs to step things up if Chris's marks are to rise, or will this be their downfall? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Cola Nuts please reply

I think you are right. Hard to shine if the content isn't there.

Steps. Fancy footwork. That's what I want to see and I am sure he can do that. Amazed Craig didn't pick up n the splayed hands again.

I think he could do a lot better. Come on, Ola. Substance not style.

Only reason Chris is still in the comp is because all us guys wanna see what Ola is going to be nearly wearing next week P

A woaful performance last night. To be pleased to be back where he started week 1 at this stage is just sad.

Sorry an' all, but... <shrug>

I agree. And I speak as a Chris and Ola fan! They are great partnership but there was so much wrong with that routine (lack of hip action and the hands - again) that I felt really let down. His rumba was better than that.

Come on, guys - you can do better than that!

I'm a girl and I love them, so the whole nearly-naked-Ola thing does not wash. Judging by these boards I ain't the only female Cola fan either...

I think Ola has been right to simplify for the past few weeks - Chris needed something easy he could get his confidence back with.

Now he needs to start doing things a little more complicated. Assuming they're doing ballroom this weekend, something like a waltz would allow this.

I agree with you, she now has his confidence back I think she now knows she can push harder.

I think Ola has her sights set on the final.

I think Ola's got it all under control. She's not stupid. She's not got this far in the competition since Kenny Logan and I think it's pretty safe to say Chris has more natural ability than Kenny did.

I hope their next routine really raises the bar a bit!

Love Team Cola!

Viennese Waltz for them this week

I desperately want Chris and Ola to do well.

They haven't quite fulfilled the potential they showed on their debut, but there is still time.

I know it's easier said than done, but Chris needs to chill out a bit more. He's so hard on himself and too eager to please Mrs Jordan.

She is certainly a more competent choreographer than her husband James. I like this partnership very much and want them to do well every week. I thought the routine last night was good but I think there is more in Chris, I think he can do more. I think Ola needs to step it up for Chris because all the other couples have raised their game and I want Chris to stay in the competition for a while yet!

I love this partnership, and am a massive team Cola fan, only reason why I'm watching the show.

My feeling is Chris was shocked to get such high marks at the beginning, and put pressure on himself, it's inhibiting him, but the last couple of weeks, his confidence is growing.

My feeling is James might now come to help them as well, if he hadnt already.

So do I, as I've mentioned in other threads I like Chris and Ola, I do think he has it, Ola needs to push him harder.

I dont think the problem lies with Ola.

I admit I dont know what is wrong and she must have a good reason for allowing Chris to count all his steps.

Normally I would expect her to stop that dead, and put loud earphones on him if necessary, so he learns to dance to the music. Maybe he hasn't got musicality, ie, like Dom Littlewood, who couldn't clap in time to the music.

Chris's best dance was the Rumba, and maybe the answer lies in going back to what system they used for Chris to learn that dance. Things just seem to have gone off the rails, which is strange, because Ola is a smart girl. Or maybe Chris is just too mentally tired from working so hard?

Chris's technique (which was never that good) hasn't improved for weeks, because they need all the time just to learn the routine.

I like them both, but I honestly think there is some big problem which has to be solved.

I agree. The Foxtrot tonight was really beautiful, really elegant. I'm sure they can improve more and more.

I think as long as they can avoid a dance off all the way to the final ten the public will vote fo them in the final
