I thought it was a very poor performance from her. Did not seem at all comfortable. Also I do not feel any warmth towards her at all. In my opinion she comes across as a bit of an ice maiden. Very insipid with a very false smile.

She has no personality either which I think is why the viewers did not vote for her.

I wasn't surprised, particularly with Jade and Zoe being in the dance off previous weeks.

The change in the voting system and the number of 'personality' contestants this year was bound to have an impact - so many 'cute' people for the GBP to vote for.

Ali was obviously in pain and was gritting her teeth rather than smiling. It made it very uncomfortable to watch even though her lines were beautiful. What's wrong with being the cape throughout anyway? I was surprised she was in the dance off as I thought people would have voted for her out of sympathy. That said, I didn't vote - so I can't complain!

Why am I not surprised the 'hate' campaign for Ali has started? It's already getting quite venomous on the Beeb boards

I just can't understand why. With Kelly and Lisa ('hate' figures from the previous seasons) I just assumed it was the Brendan factor, but Ali is with one of the nicest pro dancers and hasn't had a bad word to say about anyone

Did Ali really get 37? She was overmarked then, in fairness. Laila and Anton were undermarked. I would have put Ali in 4th place, Laila and Anton more on a par with Jade.

Looks like Arlene was shocked as well .

No she got 33 and was joint 3rd on the leaderboard I believe. She got 37 last week for her American Smooth.

Her Paso was below par AND overmarked.

Not a great way to get voters on side.

Thanks

So Craig must have come at least 4th <6 + 4> in the public vote if my workings are right

And that`s taking into account Ali coming last in the public vote which is even more shocking imo.

The reasons she was in the dance off was - as others have pointed out - due to the new scoring system. Under the old scoring system the bottom couple would have had a multiplier of 1 for their judges score. Now its probably three of four if there are couples tied on the leaderboard. Four times the public vote is always going to give them much more of a chance of not being in the dance off. Thus couples at the bottom are much more likley to survive and couples nearer the top become more vulnerable.

I think a couple in the top four is going to be in the dance off every week there is a tie unless the viewers simply vote for their fave and not for 'Bruces favourites' or the head judge decided to rank couple who are tied in order thus giving them less of an advantage under the new scoring system.

Ali's dance was definitely good enough for her to progress but under the new system third of fourth is the most vulnerable position on the leader board if there are a number of couples tied.

I thought she was very poor on Saturday. If I hadn't been told it was a paso I would never have known. Other people (Tuffers) have performed with an injury - the judges made too much of it. She is teachers pet. She always looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights.
Perhaps this is wakeup call for them especially Brian. I didn't vote for them & won't be ever - no peronality - dead from the neck up.

That would probably be true if the voters actually cared about the dancing Let's just scrap the dancing altogether and make it a straightforward personality contest (and I'm not one of these 'vote for the best dancer' types either!).

Ooh I'm feeling grumpy today.

Ali's Passo was very dissapionting. No drama, no drive, no aggression and smiling. It didn't look like a passo at all. She still should not have been in the dance off though.

The lowest he could be in the public vote is 5th (6 pts) if Ali was last or 4th (5 pts) if Zoe was

Scarey eh?

Certainly only a maximum of 3 front runners are more popular than Craig, obviously.

I wish they'd tell us the phone vote order

This has happened to us too - we normally start watching with about 15-20 minutes delay, as I want to get dinner entirely ready before I sit down, so the first couple of weeks by the time we had watched all the dances the lines had closed. This week what with halloween and visitors, we just kept checking to see if the lines were open, then voted for our favourites, without seeing the dances - not something I am comfortable with doing but didn't want to see my faves go

There is a huge difference between and elective proceedure 5 days prevoius , and a ? broken toe 3 hours previous .
I worked in A+E for a while and believe me , I am very surprised that she could put that foot under her .A badly stubbed toe will casue the nerve ending to dance as if on fire and make you feel nauseated ,. I am in awe that she walked never mind dance on that injury

Ali and Brian must be feeling really bad since Saturday he hasnt been on twitter once which is unusual

I know that Zoe and James are not hugely popular but I think the wrong person went home. Ali only has one look and that Bambi I know she had a bad foot but she didnt convince me in that Paso not one little bit.

Don't worry about it KipsKaz. Every contestant gets criticized, its the nature of the forums unfortunately. Plus this week her staying has put another talented dancer out who arguably did better in the dance off even if it was a far inferior routine.

She's still leading the favourite poll on here and you never know the more criticism she receives the more the people who do like her might be compelled to pick up the phone this weekend - just like in the show

Nope I wasn't surprised.

The girl simply doesn't inject enough personality into her Latin routines, which surprises me given she's an actress.

You cannot smile your way through a Paso and expect to get away with it.

Admire her guts for dancing through the pain barrier though and adore her Ballroom dances.

Agree it is awful I remember the pain vividly when I did it to mine and the bruising spread all the way across the top of my foot almost to the ankle and it was swollen badly too(haematoma? spelling?).

The phrase a "stubbed toe" makes it seem almost comically insignificant - it certainly is not. Hope she recovers quickly.

She's had a mauling by them on more than one occasion when others doing worse are praised for their enthusiasm and glaring errors and technique are not mentioned.

People see what they want to see i guess, me included.”

It depends what you mean by teacher's pet. As Ian politely pointed out the other week, the scores didn't match the comments for their own dance.

Regardless of the comments, Ali has been above Jade on the leaderboard except for week 5 and this week. She has topped the leaderboard twice, which Jade has not done at all and she has been above Natalie every week. I wonder what they would rather have ... pretty comments or pretty scores and a good leaderboard position

If they had said the same to her as they did Phil the week after his surgery, basically we understand and applaud you for actually dancing but we can only mark what we see ... it might have been different for her.
