ok my 12 month contract is soming to an end, i've written a letter that i want to end my contract but haven't heard anything back. The last thing I received from them was a monthly statement.

I think my contract may of now ended (even though I have had no letters/emails from them) as when i switch on my phone it comes up with somwething about a sim error, however it now doesn't do that ? I have no signal or network logo. On the other hand at work today i heard that the O2 network mast in Portsmouth (where i live) isn't working or something and someone else with an O2 phone didin't have any signal (she wasn't getting the sim error messages though)

So what I want to know is whether this is a sign that my contract has run out but also what i do next. I want to keep my phone (nokia 6100) for the time being just on PAYG before i get a new phone in the summer. I also want to keep my number. Can Singlepoint (who im with) just move me onto PAYG, do i have to get my phone unlocked? can i keep my number? If i have to get my phone unlocked can singlepoint do it for me?

Thanks very much, Nick.

I ported my old O2 number to Virgin and it said sim error on my sim so it could be that your account has now been closed. I changed back to O2 again though. If your account has ended i dont think you will be able to keep your number but i may be wrong.

As far as I know, most networks don't reply to cancellation letters; they just do it.

It's quite likely that your contract has been cancelled if you were getting a SIM error.
I'm afraid that because your contract has already ended, you have lost your number.
If you're staying with the same network, you don't need the phone unlocking to move onto PAYG.

I had a terrible time with Singlepoint when I came to cancel my contract at the end of the 12 months.
It resulted in me 'looking' like I was in arrears of 1 month and that meant I couldnt get another contract from elsewhere!
Singlepoint blamed Vodaphone who said it wasn't them - I made 9 calls one day, back and forth.
Singlepoint also wont call you back..........their customer service is appalling and unfortunately I have another account with them which I pay for my daughter - I have to keep it until the end of the contract - another 8 months.

I had 2 contracts for 3 years with them..........they were not interested.

I wouldnt touch their company with a bargepole ever again.

A contract phone isn't usually locked, you should be able to put in any PAYG sim.

My missus is with Singlepoint and I've got her a free upgrade every year so far (now on a Nokia 6100). Her old phones have been passed round the family and I currently have her Nokia 3330 from 2 years ago, passed to me from one of the kids who has her Motorola from last change. We've had no problems with other network PAYG sims in the old contract phones.

well i bought an O2 PAYG sim off o2 site for 99p where you top up 10 pound a month to get 300 free texts or 75 free media messages and 300 wap minutes a month. Good news to hear i shouldn't have to unlock my phone.

Does anyone know how these free 300 texts/75 media messages work? i mean if you start sedning text messages does that mean you can't get any freee media messages or do they split it up somehow?

I am certain you can mix. Though 1 media message uses up 4 of your text allowances. That means a maximum of 75 MMs
