Some really insightful stuff here from Derren. It's a good read. He's a smart guy:

Excellent read. Louis seems to be very highly regarded, not one bit surprised, the most down to earth of the lot of them.

Really cool! He's a real fan.

I very rarely agree with any of these celebrity blogs, or articles about X Factor, because most of the time it seems they are just writing what people want to hear.

But I was pleasantly suprised by Derren's. It was extremely thought provoking, and the first paragraph could have been written by myself as that is exactly how I feel.

Nice find, cheers for that. This paragraph really struck me:-

Quote:
“Joe, Lucy and Stacey seem to offer us ‘journeys’, and sadly, when we’re watching these people every week for so long, we value journeys over talent. This is the power of story, and the producers know it well. Danyl will struggle to give us a good journey, for he has come in already at the top. He’s so good, he has nowhere to go. This we can unfairly read as smugness. Now he needs to be knocked down in order to build up again, to a new place with new learnings: it’s the hero’s struggle, and will be important for him if he’s going to win. Stacey, Joe and Lucy have a clearer story: modest and much-loved, they rise to find the star within themselves. And I hope they do, even if it’s just a confection of the show, because I love a good story and bawl my eyes out at anyone winning anything.”

Ethan spoke very highly of Dannii? She must be pretty great, since he wasn't even in her category.

No mention of high-speak for Cheryl.

I wondered about the journey part yesterday, although I don't want to be part of the knock him down to build him up again brigade.

Nice insightful read. Cheers OP

I wonder if that blog article actually contains a whole load of subliminal misdirection, and everyone who read it is going to vote for the same person next week ...

If the papers pick this story up I wonder if sales of smints will go through the roof?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Why oh why do people who meet Danyl say he is nice, when it's quite obvious that all the people who are on this forum, those who don't know him and have never met him, are in the right when they say he is smug/arrogant etc etc...

Like someone who has met him is going to know better

It's called knowing how the media game is played tbh, Danyl makes sure to be as nice as pie with celebs, who will inevitably give him glowing references in their blogs, tweets, columns etc etc.

I think Derren Brown comes across as a nice and friendly person, but I'm afraid he's another victim of the Danyl Johnson hype machine. "He's so good and deserves to win"? Really? We must not have been watching the same show on Saturday night.

I enjoyed that read. Interesting that he says it isn't just Danyl who acts like he is a star already - all three of the over 25s do. Simon's influence I wonder or just knowing to milk it whilst they can?
