Derren Brown?? You think???

I follow Derren on twitter and read a lot of his stuff. I don't believe it's easy to fool him to be honest

I bet ole Danyl doesn't realise this huge "power" he seems to have over people!

(PS where did you manage to meet him and know this "arrogant" stuff is true and not manage to fall under his spell? or is it all just what you see on the TV and read in the newspapers for you too? )

Do you think Derren Brown could possibly be a victim of mind games lol?

He could kill anyone of us with his mind. Your not going to pull the wool over his eyes. If he thinks Danyl is a nice genuine guy then he is probably right. I would trust his judgement he has nout to gain, over the media who just want to rubbish people to sell papers.

Oh yes, of course that must be it! And there was me thinking it was probably because Danyl actually is just a nice guy.

I'm sorry to say that I have to question Derren's judgement when he says Danyl deserves to win. Put Danyl's supposed cocky attitude to the side for a second, let's just look at his performances.

His first audition. Bootcamp. The first group song of the live finals. Feeling Good. I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing. What do all these performances have in common? Danyl has either struggled with the low notes and just thrown the melody out the window in all of them.

That's not to say he's totally bad, I genuinely thought he gave a fantastic rendition of I'm Not Going. But the problem is that he is way too inconsistent almost to woeful degrees (last Saturday was a perfect example of this). So I'm sorry, if Derren or anyone else for that matter can't see this then I have to question that person's judgement. So you'll forgive me if I thing Derren may have had the wool pulled over his eyes when it comes to Danyl.

I mean jesus christ people, would you be content to buy a Danyl Johnson album, listen to him totally missing the low notes, just because he can nail the high notes?

First sign of trouble; direct quotes from Louis Walsh saying he believed Danyl was a bully. I'm usually as cynical as they come in regards to the media, but papers can't just make up quotes, they can get sued for that you know.

Second sign of trouble; the story about bullying Stacey hits and we are presented with a very awkward looking picture of both Danyl and Stacey smiling for the cameras. Stacey had the distinct look of being held at gun point by Simon Cowell in that picture.

Third sign of trouble; Why wasn't Danyl broken up about the negative press weeks ago? After all, it was claimed on the weekend of week 1 that he was a bully. Claims that he bullied Stacey also surfaced before Big Band week, why wasn't he all broken up about that in his VT before Feeling Good? It was only after him and Simon realised that they were losing public support did we hear about his anguish. His ego wouldn't allow him to be concerned with negative press, he couldn't fathom that people wouldn't vote for him.

Well if this guy thinks he is genuine my son says we should believe him, now my son is not some stupid kid, his stance on this is that this man has nothing to gain by saying Danyl is a nice guy and he is a great reader of people, so if my son says that I will be now looking into who the hell this man is as I have never heard of him, but he seemed nice enough on the show, and obviously like Danyl by his comments.

Why should you sit and judge what the mans opinion is, cause it does not match yours by the looks of it Gotham. You know some people out here agree with this guy, and not with you, thats life as they say.

He did say on the Xtra factor that louie was wrong to say to Danyl that he wasn't liked and Derren thought this was the start of the publics dislike for Danyl, that was not fair of Louie to do,imo.because sadly a lot of the public DO follow like sheep instead of making their own minds up.

Yes I heard him say that as well, he should have included Cherly in his comments as she was as bad that first week.

If he's still up, can you ask him whether I should wear the green skirt tomorrow evening or the black one, please?

I think Derren Brown is a lovely guy, and his account of the evening is extremely well written. However, it tells us two things: everyone involved with the show is very small, and everyone involved with the show is very nice. Whilst it's refreshing to read a summary that's not studded with jibes, insults and salacious gossip, it's also a tad bland and suggests he wouldn't have told us even if he had found himself witnessing anything even vaguely juicy. It's also rather hard to take him seriously, given his stance on Danyl (as a performer, rather than as a person).

I think the point more is, if you don't like Danyl, then you don't like him. EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion.

However, if Derren Brown - who MET him - said he came across as nice, why are people then coming up with excuses or their perceived reasons why Derren would say this..... Maybe Derren said this because he actually DID like him!

No one is saying those who don't like Danyl aren't entitled to their opinion, I think it's more that the people who DO like Danyl, are also entitled to that opinion, and it doesn't automatically make them wrong to have that opinion !

(sounds confusing but I hope you know what I mean!)

Didn't Derren Brown (or maybe Keith Barry, or both of them) previously say that they make a conscious effort not to read people when they are "off duty"? Which suggests to me that Derren wasn't reading him, merely taking him at face value.

Okay, maybe I was being harsh on Derren Brown, the man is entitled to his opinion. Louis Walsh, Kandy Rain, Paul Martin, and I'm sure Stacey are on the other side of the fence though.

I must say I'm disappointed and very surprised. He sounds like a gushing dewy-eyed teenage fangirl, and not at all like the sophisticated urbane intelligent person he appears to be. Even allowing for the fact that it makes a change to have an article/blog that doesn't consist entirely of slagging off the contestants, judges, format, and viewers, I find this piece goes way too far in the opposite direction to be taken seriously. I simply don't believe that everyone and everything is wonderful.

It was fun to read a celeb blogging that he's as obsessed with the X Factor as the rest of us (Haven't we seen other celebs say the same about the show? We should keep a list!) but I'm inclined to agree with the previous commenters that said he was walking on egg-shells throughout that article to avoid offending anyone. I wonder if he has an alter ego online where he gives his real opinions on everyone?
