The only reliable way of getting them back is to attach the drive from the Humax to a PC and use Humaxrw in recovery mode.

The format option is in the HD control menu.

I know that it is a long shot after 5 years, but....

Did you ever resolve this problem as exactly the same thing has happened to our box today?

What exactly do you want to know? This is a VERY well known problem. To restore proper functionality you need to format the disk from the HDD Control menuitem on the Record Menu. Prior to formatting you can optionally recover some of the recordings if you are prepared to open the box, attach the drive to a PC using an IDE to USB adapter and use the humaxrw program. The thread "9200T - HD not working after using humaxrw" immediately below yours is from someone who has just carried out this process successfully and may be able to offer more advice if you ask.

Hello,

That's me Martin's referring to.

He's the expert, but I'd be happy to describe in more detail what I did, as a very recent convert to humaxrw, and someone who's only just gone through the process. There may be a few additional details that I didn't bother to report that might prove useful.

For info, I did the recovery in an old desktop Pentium III running Win XP, by disconnecting the ribbon cable from the internal CD drive and plugging the hard drive from the Humax in instead. I didn't use an IDE to USB convertor, so I had to open up both boxes. It was all a bit long-winded, but if you've got the time worth doing.

But first, go and read the other thread!

My box is actually a Humax Fox HD T2 so not the same one.

I had posted another thread about it today (but nobody has replied there). I was not sure after doing a search and this thread appeared if the mechanics were the same.

I very much doubt I will be able to take out the HDD and save stuff that way.

Looks like all our recordings are gone and I will just have to try to reformat the HDD as the message keeps saying.

Though from what I have read on other sites it still may not bring back the ability to work.

I have been holding off hoping there was some work around to get our recordings back that did not require electronic/computer skills. But this is looking unlikely.

Thanks, though, for taking the time to try to help.

Is it an HD-FOX T2 with an external disk or an HDR=FOX T2 with an internal disk? Either of these are completely different to the 9200 being discussed here and the chances of saving the recordings much better.
