It does have a better chance of success though, if they give up on the Jay Leno experiment by next autumn. That will give NBC five hours to fill on top of whatever is vacated by their tanking 8:00 - 10:00 PM shows (like Heroes).

Looks like Heroes is maybe being recommisioned Ramamurthy has been replaced by Jerry O'Connell and apparently there were 'scheduling issues' with Ramamurthy's casting.

I'm pleased to see Jerry O'Connell cast -looks like a quirky good match to DT .

i would be very surprised if they re commission heroes as its been dreadful since the end of season 2 but i am looking forwards to seeing this pilot (assuming that it leaks) as i don't think its been green lit for full production yet has it?

They're filming the pilot at the moment -see the links above .Hopefully it will get the green light though-fingers crossed for the cast and crew..

looks like they're all having fun with the pilot from the pics -nice relaxed atmosphere to the photos from filming I think .

Just spotted this article seems to be saying the pilot for Rex could be ready to air this spring...I thought the US did different to the UK and pilot shows go to test preview audiences and if they like the show it's likely to get a full series?

This sounds like NBC are going to air the 'Rex' pilot and much like UK pilot shows if it rates well as a one off show -will be brought back for more?

I thought we would only see Rex if a full series was commisioned but if i'm reading this right it might be going to debut the way UK pilots do? am I reading this article right? I know nothing about how US pilots work ..

More likely it would mean going to series in spring - we've all made the assumption it was for next autumn, but I don't think there's been any confirmation of that.

It's pretty rare for a pilot to be shown unless it goes to series, except when it's done as a tv movie or a "backdoor" pilot, which is when it's done as an episode of another show (imagine it as if the BBC wanted to do a show about the first station on Mars, so Waters of Mars was used to introduce the characters and of course with a different ending)

Production schedules are much faster in the United States. David would shoot 22 episodes of Rex in less time than 13 Doctor Whos.

If i'm being honest i cannot see this pilot getting aired, the shows premise is dull and with the axing and cost cutting at NBC it seems like the network will throw very little money at the pilot which will ensure a swift axing before it even sees airtime on NBC.

And they will blame DT should that happen, michelle ryan was blamed for the awfull Bionic Woman remake and all its problems and i fear DT will suffer the same fate, if it had been say on ABC/NBC then i would have given its chances of at least getting a short run of 8 episode 9/10 but NBC are involved and that says it all really.

Heres hopeing it's the full series then and that it does well!

Hope if it's happening we get to see Rex in the UK -hopefully the bbc might show it -or Channel4/E4/Five/Sky1/Watch/Virgin/Living theres actually quite a few channels there thinking about it -good chance Rex will get a UK home if the series is commissioned I think..

The shows premise sounds good to me -we'll see a whole bunch of co-stars for David and i've yet to see the man not be brilliant with his co-stars in shows where he's one of the lead characters.

Casanova,Takin over the asylum,Learners,Recovery,Doctor Who,Secret Smile,Blackpool-for sure we'll add Hamlet after it's airing on bbc2 this Christmas also ... Every one of them brilliant chemistry with all his co stars.Even Einstein and Eddington where Tennant and Serkis only meet onscreen for a brief brilliant scene -the chemistry is still there throughout the whole show as the two men compliment each other so beautifully ..

Hopefully Rex will do well -theres no guarantees of course but the cast does look great -just needs the scripts to be strong and David says they are .We're not even sure a series has been commissioned yet so lets just wait and see -anyway sounds like NBC is due a hit and given David's record maybe Rex is the one .

I wonder if it's comissioned will they drop the 'is not your lawyer' from the title -everyone is going to think of the show as 'Rex' if it happens anyway ..

Got to agree. Do we really need yet another yet another American legal drama anyway? Shows like Damages and the Law and Order Series have set the bar incredibly high. It all sound a bit lightweight.

Nice report from filming -sounds like it's going well

Quote:
“
misionreprogirl posted a few Tweets about filming as an extra on Sunday:
About David Tennant's American accent - "It was great. The guy next to me didn't realize David was putting on an accent. I got to see the panic attack, so cool which is the 1st part."

"It was a long filming day, I was there for 15 hours. David had to have so many panic attacks in an really hot "courtroom". My best extra job ever."

"Our (extras) handler said that it looks like the series will be picked up so full production could start in a few weeks."

"I think it's going to be a great show. At the end, the first Assistant Director acknowledged the actors and while some people were already standing, people applauded very loudly and people stood up because they thought David did so well, and most people didn't know who he was. "
