Pinch of salt with me as well, along with his general happy-go-lucky jokey outlook on life.

Punters saw these declamations from the Strictly king of ballroom speaking from inside info. They piled in betting Laila to be the top scorer last Saturday, forcing bookie prices from 8/1 down to 5/2.

Those who trusted Anton of the Beke are now weeping more than twice, with little prospect of an explanation let alone an apology.”

The biggest thing wrong with their VW was that the music was a little too fast for Laila thus she was a bit skippy on just a few steps. Other than that it was a great routine and if she'd not made her usual one error then it would have received at least 9's from all the judges.

Case in point ..... he didn't actually - he said she "looked" like one - just as offensive in some quarters I grant you (me? I don't give a rat's a**e) .... but this is yet another example of the "chinese whispers" effect

You can include me in this too

Some people really need to get a life, don't you think?

And perhaps we are losing sight of the main point of this thread, namely that yet another newspaper has withdrawn an article, and in this case they have admitted that their story was untrue (some might call it a lie).

Quote:
“We previously stated (20 October) that Anton du Beke had had two clashes with his dance partner Laila Rouass, making her weep.

We now accept that this is untrue and that they have an excellent working relationship. We are happy to put the record straight and wish them the best of luck on Strictly Come Dancing.”

He brought it on himself. The tabloids exaggerated but Anton deserved the furore and approbation that followed his comment.

Well one can take issue with your assertion that Anton deserved it! But the first part of your statement is incorrect. The tabloids did not exaggerate in this instance; they simply made it up and printed it. And then, of course, print their apology in much less conspicuous fashion! 'Twas ever thus with the rags!

Did Laila deserve the made up story? Did she deserve to have it reported that she wept in the producer's office and had to be cajoled back to the show?

When it didn't happen?

Is Laila your sacrificial lamb to punish Anton for his comment to...oh yes, it was Laila wasn't it
