Sing Off
Leetid

What is the point of the sing off if the judges can't make a decision? Isn't it the second week that the judges couldn't make their mind up and had to go to deadlock.

Just go to the public decision in the first place and save the contestants having to sing again.

They don't have to go to deadlock; they choose to do so, when it suits them (and by 'them' I mean Simon Cowell). They will never go to deadlock if the act with the fewest votes is not the act 'they' prefer to lose.

Yep, they went to deadlock in the first week too. The only time they didn't was when they couldn't because there were only 3 judges! It's fair enough if they genuinely disagree with each other. But this week, Simon didn't base his vote on the sing off at all!

Simon said he didn't feel it was fair to judge Lloyd when he could barely speak, let alone sing. That's why he took it to deadlock this week: he decided to let public popularity be the deciding factor.

I actually thought Lloyd sounded alright when singing. Certainly no worse than normal.

I kinda liked his sing off song better than his singing any of the other live shows...

He is best at slow songs i think..

Yes but he also felt Rachel's time was up as it was her third week in the bottom2. He did state a mixture of reasons for his decision and I think he was right to do so!

I agree.

I don't see the point in hiring expensive music moguls & popstars to make crucial decisions, then when the time comes to make a crucial decision, they wimp out & take it to deadlock.

That's why I say we need an odd number of judges to put paid to that nonsense.

I agree with you, I noticed no change in his singing from any other performance.

They do need odd number of judges to make it fairer - they should have 5 judges, one completely neutral without a group so they can give an honest opinion.

If anything I actually thought it was slightly better

Let Dermot have the casting vote!

The judges do make a decision, just that sometimes they disagree with each other. Simon wanted Rachel out as she had been bottom every week bar one, that week most probably due to sympathy vote.

Its true, the sing off has become highly pointless. The judges have been basing their decision on who they prefer rather than who performed better in the sing off. Simon says that the decision is based purely on who gives the better performance. Last year he actually stuck to that when it was Ruth v Laura.

Can you imagine how he would have reacted if Danyl was in the same position as Rachel i.e in the bottom 2 against a weaker singer with the excuse of a sore throat. If Danyl got sent home under those set of circumstances I think Simon would call an EMERGENCY EMERGENY MEETING!
