There's been a few stories here and there, and I thought it'd be interesting to see how many celebrities have said that they're behind the twins.

So far I know of Peaches Geldof, Robbie Williams and Brittany Spears. Any others?

Quite worryingly, Brian May. He cleverly avoided mentioning their "talents", but thanked them for covering the most famous song he ever wrote last week and defended them after Cowell's comments.

Westlife - on the one show Shane said he think they're nice lads and think they are good entertainment. They all kind of backed them its possibly cos they're Irish maybe?! They met them on the x factor when they perform what about now.

It was mentioned by one of the boys that they're probably not the best singers in the competition but good on them for trying (or something along those lines). I like their honesty on that point!

Aston from JLS wants them in the final along with Stacey and Olly; he said it on JLS's twitter.

Hardly a great list of celebs is there only ones that has really any credibility is Robbie and David. As all the rest will be just trying to get their names in the papers because they are washed out or selling something. imo

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not sure that Brian May counts, though. He's not said that he's supporting them in the competition, he's said that he thought their performance was a "good production", that he doesn't mind that they did a version of his song, and that he thought they had lots of enthusiasm. I don't think there's any indication that he's ever watched any performance other than that one, nor that he plans to again. The article in which he gave the quote explicitly said that he hadn't seen the programme and was instead sent the clip by someone, so I doubt he could care less whether they leave next week or win.

Possibly, but I don't really care about the motives behind people pledging their support. I'm just interested in how the trend/bandwaggon/hype/movement/whatever is faring.

Whether the people who say they're supporting them genuinely are, whether they think it's just all a bit of a laugh, whether they're seeing an opportunity for free publicity, or all of the above, it's still an interesting thing to look at.

Okay I am not Irish but my grand mother and grand father were, and I can speak in Irish brogue at the drop of a hat for some reason, or read in it.. ie in my head and I have read this whole tread that way.. no no spelling mistake they dont say THREAD they say tread... believe me I know.. I have never laughed so much, cried so much as this lot has tonight.. hilariously funny.. from Robbie the celeb.. who may or may not be.. to some guy I never heard of. To Brian May who may or may not be really supporting them to Britney and Same Difference in the same breath.. oh my how bloody funny is this.. as Holly would say.

Simon Cowell thinks he is a genius but even he could not have dreamt this up ... only one bloke could the irish leprecon called Louis Walsh... and no matter what celeb supports them you know it is down to the British Public.. said in a very Louis Walsh voice .. very smugly.. bless the man.. go Jeward... you can win this show....
