Changing to Sky Talk - How easy is it?

How easy is it to change from BT to Sky Talk? Any problems with the changeover? Do Sky do all the donkey work for you or do I have to spend hours on the phone to both parties? just worried as I have had problems changing suppliers before.

Thanks
Heinz

Sky should do all the work. You should not have to speak to BT at all.

Sky should have taken over my line yesterday, according to my letter from BT, but I'm not convinced it happened.

When I was BT, I didn't have 1571 but asked to have it with Sky. But when I dial 1571 I hear a recorded message: "This line does not have a call answering service."

Is there a test number I can phone to be certain I'm no longer with BT? I'm not going to be making any chargeable calls until I'm sure.

Edit: Just phoned 150 and heard "Thanks for calling BT." My line transfer didn't take place.

I thought this was supposed to be simple.

Called Sky on Saturday because my line still hadn't been switched over, but according to their systems switchover had taken place as planned on Friday 13th.

I explained that I was still hearing a BT announcement when I dialled 150 but was told that that wasn't proof that my line was still with BT! What?

Unfortunately there was a half-hour wait on the phone if I wanted to be put through to Technical Help, but as I was at work I had to hang up.

However, this morning on dialling 150 I get "Welcome to Sky, the home of HD TV." So switchover has finally taken place.

I know Sky come in for a lot of flack on these forums, some of it justified, I'm sure, but in my experience the agents are always polite, if not entirely clued up at times. And I got through to a UK call centre.

Verdict: A relatively small blip. My experience could have been far worse. Recommended.
