I used to have a Lumix, the model prior to this one, It's a good camera but the pics were not sharp enough to my taste, . I prefer the quality of the Nikon and the Canon that I also own. So i ended up lending to my mother and buying another Canon, a PowerShot of a similar range.

Agreed, I got a TZ3 a few years ago and it is fantastic. 10x zoom and all colours come out brilliantly.
The scene modes are brilliant, I managed to get several fantastic photos of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York at dawn a few months ago
Be aware that Lumix cameras can suffer from a cracked LCD screen that is difficult to get covered by warranty. Probably a small proportion, on the grand scale of things, but a problem none the less.
