Any bets that the long awaited HDR update airs on 10/11/09....???

The DTG website shows that the 1.00.03 OAD now has an end date of 10/11/09.........ready for new OAD????

Seems unlikely as beta testing of iplayer (supposedly part of the new firmware) is due to start at the end of this month. I really hope I'm wrong. I would have thought that Bob_Cat would have told us if it was due that soon. If nothing else it would stop a lot of people moaning.

The date was once "open", indeed.

I reckon there could be one or two weeks with no update transmitted, followed by the new one.

On other forums, it has been implied that the update does not necessarily have to coincide with an iPlayer release.

Sadly it seems BobCat has been scared off the forums a little by some but if I remember he did say that that any announcements of any calibre would be given out through official channels only.

Shame really as DS look to have lost any scoop!

We have hopes that we might be able to make some announcements. I can't take the risk of saying what should be happening in case we decide to delay and I am nailed to a cross over it .

But it is fair to say we have ambition, motivation and inspiration. Check, check, check, check, check and check again.... Repeat

BBC infer that general launch is in 2010, I hope that doesn't mean the firmware's delayed until then:

Have to agree...Look the Foxsat IS a nice piece of kit.To get an official from Humax on this forum giving us info on their product is a huge bonus.What other manufacturer would do this? Tbh why he still posts here,after some of the comments,I don't know.I buy Humax products because they are in general good products,and a large part of my mind is made up because of the Humax support.

Surely the BBCs plans mean that the ethernet port has to be activated first? So that must mean an available firmware update before the BBC starts its Beta testing -unless this is only going to be made available (by some other means than an OTA download) to those taking part in the tests.

The implication has been that those selected to take part in the beta testing will be sent a firmware upgrade by some other means than OTA, and then load it into the unit via USB.

Not being one of the chosen few I can only report what I have deduced from elsewhere.

If this is the case, then wouldn't the update files find their way onto popular file shaing sites or will they be protected some how.

I look forward to it, and as I have a completely dead Goodmans and I'm stuck with it in Belgium with no courier option to repair it, I'm very happy that Humax doesn't beta test on the general public!

I hate guessing but I think they will send the testers info to download from a different transponder in the menu's manual settings update.

If everyone adopted your attitude all any manufacturer would have to do to stifle any criticism would be to have an employee post anywhere their name was mentioned.

These are forums, i.e. places where people can express their opinions.

If some members feel the need to criticise a manufacturer then that is their right and it isn't for other members to try and inhibit them.

Looking at the list of bugs for the PVR I'd say that's debatable.

Well I would like to express my opinion and that is that I would much rather read what Bob Cat has to say regarding this product.

I like your direct approach Tern very much but I ask if your strong feelings toward your issues with Humax are spoiling your valid opinion and sentiments just a little. This is no real critisism as I like your thoughts.

Anyway it's looking more and more positive...would you not say?

But if you read my posts a lot of them are very positive towards the Humax and, by implication, the people who made it.

The problem comes where there is criticism of one aspect of the way Humax have handled things - i.e. the update - and there then follows a selection of posts by people who can't stand to see Humax criticised and whose own posts then cause a vast flurry of further posts by the people who made the criticisms defending themselves and making it appear as if there's actually far more anti-Humax feeling than there is.

Sometimes it takes real world testing to find the bugs. And what a designer may have thought was a feature general users may call a bug

Unlike some manufacturers out there, it does look like we are getting a update with fixes for a few of the things people have highlighted.

I have read a lot of your posts and I know that if anything you are very happy with the product overall. I pick up that you are unhappy with Humax which is why I say I like your points. But I am just wondering if you could some how "retune" or "tweak" your expressive posts so as not to lose any of your good points, ideas and and thoughts.

I was surprised you did not get a little upset at my post so for that I thank you. I hope you understand my sentiments?

Well, I hope we're closer to getting the updates so that must be a plus.

I just hope that when they come they've done a good job and got rid of all the little niggles (that would be extremely easy to repair) as well as the big ticket items.

I spoke to Humax CS about my 'HDMI mode not supported' problem yesterday and they confirmed the update should be out in 2 weeks
